We spent about a week in Arizona Feb 15-21. It was HOT.
High 80-90+ degrees. When we left
Idaho there was still mounds of snow everywhere. We spent a week in the hot sun, and when we
came back nearly all the snow had melted!
I like it!
Before Arizona, Kaden could not remember being outside in
nice weather. So once we got there, he
was in heaven! So were the rest of
us. Green grass! Palm trees!
We went swimming a few times. Kaden wasn’t allowed to swim, so we had to
leave him at the house with either Grandma or Dad. The kids had a lot of fun swimming,
especially when one of us was in the pool with them. Dylan got bored of swimming and would say he
didn’t want to go. I would still make
him come and tell him to bring a book.
Both times he ended up getting in the pool after awhile. But he did spend a lot of time reading there
instead.
(He was trying to hide on this day because the only book we
had that he hadn’t finished was Kylee’s Dork Diaries book that was pink, so he
was embarrassed to be reading it, lol. I
had to download some books onto the kindle app on the ipad for him so he would
have some more to read.)
We planned a hike that would be short enough for Sadie. But she was really worn out and she had been
coughing a lot. The night before we
planned to leave, I asked her if she would rather just stay home and not
hike. (She is not that great at hiking,
she wears out quickly). She said
yes. So Sadie and Kaden stayed back with
Grandma while the rest of us went on a hike.
We left as early as we could because the temperature was supposed to get
up to 90 later on. It was definitely
warm, but we beat most of the heat.
I really enjoy hiking in different areas of the country. I like seeing the natural habitats in other areas. The cacti were really cool.
There were hieroglyphics at the end of the hike. What I read online said something about a waterfall, but it was more like a little trickle and small pond. But it was fun.
We spent some time on the golf course. It’s so nice to enjoy the beautiful weather
and have fun as a family. We left Kaden
with Grandma for that too. Poor Kaden
didn’t get to do anything fun. But then
he got sick, so it didn’t matter anyway.
Kaden ended up with a cough like Sadie, and a fever. The fever lasted for the last three days we
were there. The poor guy was miserable. He drifted in and out of sleep, and
whined. But he did like to go on walks
or bike rides with Ryan.
Kylee went for a bike ride with Grandpa. She thinks she's pretty big being able to ride Grandma's bike!
I enjoyed getting out for a couple runs. I also swam laps one day, and did some strength
training at the gym there. It was so
nice to get some fresh air! Although I
was a little run down, and later came down with the nasty cold. But at least I was able to enjoy the trip
without being totally sick.
Ryan and I were able to go to the temple on Saturday
morning. The Gilbert temple was closed
while we were there so we drove to Mesa.
There were so many people heading to the temple when we pulled in. We knew we would be there a long time if we
waited for a session, and there was a sign saying they were in need of
sealings, so we did that instead. It was
good! The temple grounds were
pretty. It’s fun to see the different
plants and flowers.
Cheryl and I took the kids to the I.D.E.A Museum while Ryan
was golfing one day. Last time we were
here, it was robots. This time it was
Under the Sea. This is a pretty cool
place to kill some time for kids.
We had to wake up quite early on Sunday morning to get to
the airport. And poor Kaden was still
not feeling well. He was pretty
miserable. There was a small baby close
to us and I felt bad every time Kaden would cough. I hoped that baby didn’t catch any of his
germs. I had to walk around the plane
quite a bit with him and eventually got him to fall asleep for 20 minutes or
so. Kylee and Dylan sat by themselves a
few rows ahead of us. They ate snacks,
did homework, and mostly just played their devices. Besides poor Kaden, it was easy
traveling. From Idaho Falls right to
Mesa, not a very long flight. We were
home before noon.
