The kids enjoy this triathlon and they look forward to it all summer. Last year was rainy and kind of miserable, not to mention Kylee didn't get to participate because of an eye infection that landed her in the hospital. But this year was much better! They are so cute.
Sadie did the smallest race, which is one length of the pool, one lap around the block on the bike and one lap around the parking lot running. She's quite competitive so it's fun to watch.
She was really pooped when she finished! I love it!
The girls with their medals.
Grandpa came to watch the kids and was a great help with Kaden! I was running around taking pictures and Ryan was trying to help lead them in the right direction and taking videos.
Dylan was in the medium race (I can't remember the names, maybe Mini, Super, Mega, Extreme?) So he did two of everything that Sadie did only one. He's pretty competitive too.
He swam hard, but utilized the backfloat when he got tired.
We couldn't find his shirt after the swim! It had gotten tossed around by someone else I think. So I told him to just go. I found it a few minutes later and had it ready for him for the run. It was important because it had his number on it so that's how we got his results.
Dylan was sufficiently spent when he finished as well. He gave it his all, and I love it. Though they all say they could go faster on the bike but there's no room to pass anyone on those sidewalks.
Kylee did four of everything. I didn't get to see her swim because she started when Dylan was finishing. But I already know she's a great swimmer and a friend that was in there commented on how great she did. She seems a little more cautious on the bike, but again, there's just not much room.
She ran hard! Four laps is a lot. I handed off my camera and ran the 3rd lap with her. Ryan made a comment like, "don't let that mom slow you down." Which was overheard by the race director, Michael Hays, who thought it was a low blow. I guess he didn't see the irony. Kylee was able to grab a drink from the table on her fourth lap. She did take a couple breaks, but ran really hard and she did great!
It is such a fun event! I can't wait until they get old enough to do some real ones with me. I know Kylee can since she's a great swimmer. The problem will be the bike- they would need to train on a road bike. Oh well, some day we will figure that out!
They beat their times from last year, which I was proud of. Of course Kylee didn't compete last year, though. I think Sadie may have been the fastest girl her age, but I can't remember now. All I know is they rocked it and I love that they have fun and look forward to it each year. Maybe next year Kaden can do it? Maybe? Ok, probably not. But 2018 is his year!
