Anyway, back to August. Kaden is sure a good kid, just happy to hang out and be a part of whatever we are doing. But he does make a mess.
This is what he did while I was getting my workout in one morning. Trouble maker!
He loves the fish at the library! Like, too much.
He likes to unstrap my shoes. And his own. Dang, he's cute.
I started letting him watch Baby Einstein movies on my bed. It was like his favorite thing for a couple months.
I got a new baby monitor that is connected to my phone. I love it! I can see him when I'm out of town too!
Dylan said he would entertain Kaden for a little while. I heard them in his room but the door was shut. I wanted to see how cute they were, so I pulled up the monitor. SO cute! Dylan was reading to him and quizzing him on the animals. I love it.
Of course we went to the lake again. We rented a kayak and the girls had a lot of fun with it. Kaden loved it too, but it made me really nervous. Even with a lifejacket.
Kylee did well in Swim Club this summer! She's such a great little swimmer. She competed against people older than her and she still came in 1st or 2nd each time I think, I can't really remember anymore but I know she rocked it.
I love summer because I have a lot of time in the morning to get my workouts in! Ryan doesn't usually leave the house until 8:30-9 so if I get up at 6, I have close to three hours. I did jog with Kaden and Sadie riding by me sometimes.
Kehau and I went on a tough bike ride! It was up Bone Rd, which is basically just a big long hill, with a few rolling hills. Then down Sunnyside, which is a big long downhill. It was really fun to do with a friend, but this is the day my knee started hurting. And the day I decided I needed a nicer bike! Ryan was so understanding and let me get a new bike, but my knee continued to give me problems- only when riding, which is weird. So much for doing another triathlon. The knee, plus I got sick again- like long-term illness that feels like food reactions every time I eat and ends up wearing me down making me weak as well as in pain. Good times! I'll have to get into that one a different time. Then I tore a huge hole in my wetsuit!! RIGHT after Ryan agreed to let me buy a new bike. I was freaking out, knowing I couldn't buy a new wetsuit too. But people told me it could be patched, so I worked on it for a long time and got it patched up. I hope it lasts for awhile! But it is about 6-7 years old and I think it's just wearing out. I'll keep patching it for awhile.
I was obsessed with the lake!! Swimming is just so peaceful! We kept swimming twice a week until school started (I would take Erin or Kariesa and then Kariesa's husband came a couple times) and then we found a couple times to go after school started in September. The water was biting cold and made your face and feet and hands numb, but it only took a few minutes to warm up and get used to it. It was awesome and I can't wait until next summer!
Rexburg Rapids stresses me out a bit. It's usually crowded, and windy. But we did go once and the kids had a blast. I just had to keep Kaden occupied with food every so often so I could sit down and warm up out of the water.
We took a drive over to Freeman Park one Sunday evening. The summer evenings are just so beautiful, it's nice to get out and enjoy them. The kids had fun wading in the water and running around. It was awesome until I got bit by mosquitoes, like 5 in 5 minutes. That's when I hid in the car and we left shortly after.
More time with my friends. Lake day (and yes, this day we ONLY took selfies, no pictures of kids, haha.) Do you like Liza running away from the wasps? LOL I love my friends.
We went out to dinner at Snake Bite, I think this was for Ingrid's bday. Afterwards Liza needed to get her kids' school supplies so I suggested we all go. I had already finished my shopping but had fun tackling it with these beauties.
Celebrated the first day of school with lunch at Cafe Rio. Seriously, how cute are we? Lol.
I saw this candy experiment online so we tried it with Sadie's skittles. She only had a small pack and the colors weren't that different, but it was pretty cool!
Sadie drew this really in-depth picture on the magnadoodle. She's really great at finding things to do, especially with Kaden. She has all sorts of fun little games she plays with her friends. She doesn't often tell me exactly what they are because she says they're "awkward" which I think she means embarrassing. But they have fun.Kylee and Dylan played in the Jr Club Championship and Kylee was the only girl near her age at all so she got a trophy. She was really excited about the trophy! Ryan and I laughed because it's really just a participation trophy since there was no competition, but she didn't care. She loves it!
Ryan took the three older kids to Jenny Lake to enjoy one of the last summer days. Kaden and I weren't up for the long drive so we stayed home. It's really pretty up there!
Dylan is now a cub scout and he had his first pack meeting in August. Their leaders do an awesome job! It was a lot of fun. Doesn't he look so handsome??
I love that we take pictures on our phones now because it helps me remember all the things we do each month. I really need to start taking more pictures of just every day stuff, with my nice camera, etc.
