May 2020

May was still mostly closed down.  We got outside a bit.

The kids never did get to go back to school, but they did get to finish up early.  They were done by May 15th.  We missed Teacher Appreciation Week so they put together a little drive by.  It was sweet.  All the teachers wore shirts that said "essential" on them, meaning essential employees that still have to work during quarantine.  The teachers went through a lot these last couple months of school.

We worked on some projects.  Kylee spent a long time working on a quilt with a lot of her old sports shirts.  Grandma Cheryl walked her through it over FaceTime and she cut all the squares out and sewed the top piece together.  Then Grandma Carol came over and they tied it.  It turned out cute!

I finally put up all the photos on my photo wall downstairs and I love it!

The dentist office closed for like a month so they had postponed Kaden's tooth.  But they finally got us in.  His tooth seemed to be doing okay after he smashed it and killed it.  It was gray and wiggly but didn't seem to be getting infected or anything.  But the gums on that tooth were receding a LOT.  So Dr McCord told us it was probably better to have it pulled.  Kaden was super nervous and would get stressed out when we talked about it.  But he eventually accepted it as it got closer.  I think he lost a tooth on the bottom and realized it doesn't hurt that much.  So, although he would cry and throw a fit at home just talking about getting his tooth pulled, once we got to the dentist he was a little angel.

Seriously, he didn't even feel it when he got his numbing shot.  The ladies said he did better than some 17-year-olds.  Kaden thought that was pretty funny and told everyone about it.  I took him out for ice cream afterwards like I had promised.  It was no big deal.  The dentist actually said it probably would be okay to leave it but you never know for sure.  He also said the other tooth would probably fall out in 6 months or so, which helped me make my decision because I didn't want him having one huge hole for two years.

Josh got baptized over Zoom!  Okay, he got baptized like normal but all of us watched it over Zoom.  Which was pretty cool.

The kids were allowed to start practicing soccer, keeping their distance.  No games in May still.  This picture cracks me up, but documents the time perfectly.

Sadie planned a sleepover with her friend Evelyn.  The anticipation and planning might've been more fun than the actual sleepover.  They planned out every minute of the 24 hours they spent together.  They talked on the phone daily leading up to it.  The funny thing is, right after it was over, they didn't talk on the phone at all for like weeks, lol.  I guess they got enough of each other.  Just kidding, they do have other friends too.

Ryan loves being outside and when the weather was a little nice he started a fire and decided to bring the TV outside and watch a movie with the kids.

I love being outside too, just don't love watching movies very much. (There's too many other things I need to be doing).  But we did start hiking in May!  I was so excited!  We did Lower Palisades Lake a couple times and then went to a new trail called Aspen Trail with a bunch of friends.  It was fun! And beautiful!

Thankfully the gym opened, which also meant the climbing gym opened!  I took the whole family on a Monday because they have a family discount.  We had a great time!  Dylan and Kylee can both help belay so I get to do a bit of climbing too.

I also got out on my bike on Memorial Day and saw this cemetery lined with flags, which was cool.
Kylee and Kaden are the only ones that want to golf with me. I needed some extra practice for Chapman so I took them out.  We had fun!  Kaden sunk a really far putt!

The weather finally turned nice!
Peanut loves hanging out in the raspberries.  He kind of scared me when I was picking weeds in there.

Porch pictures were a thing people were doing to document the quarantine time.  Since people couldn't go out to get pictures done I guess.  And just to document their family at the time of the quarantine.  I decided for Mother's Day I wanted everyone to come out and take a porch picture.  I think they turned out really cute!
