Early in the summer, I refused to let Sadie go swimming at the Yellowstone tournament (remember, the one where we had 6 games in one long exhausting day) where they offered free swimming but it wasn't even very warm. So I promised her I would take her and some soccer friends swimming another time. So as we got into August, I realized my time was running out. We planned this day, and then my friend offered me tickets to Maroon 5 in Salt Lake that night. I wanted to go really bad! But I didn't want to let my kids down. I've done a lot for me this summer, between races and hikes, and I decided to do something for them. And I'm glad I did. Sadie invited Kaylee and she wanted a couple other friends too, but two of them couldn't come and we decided it would be better to just have one friend. Sara and Cheryl came too. Unfortunately Kylee had another obligation so even though I was bugged, she didn't come.
Kaden was hanging out with Sadie and Kaylee on the lily pads, so I hung out with Dylan until the rest of the crew showed up. He had a bit of a bad attitude and just wanted to lay out and get a tan at first. It was really hot and I told him 10 minutes on each side was enough (he still got burned, oops.) But then we hung out in the lazy river together, which doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's really hard to get any quality time with teenage boys so I was happy. As soon as Sara showed up, he tried to ditch me for Josh and I made a big deal about it but I was happy he was happy.
It was a nice day. We played basketball (not quite as fun as at Lava with all the people there) and we all got to sit and talk for a long time.
Something funny... Kaden, Jason, Sadie, and Kaylee all spent most of the day on those lily pads. The next day, Sadie and Kaden were complaining about how sore their stomach muscles were. I had to laugh. I texted Sara and Cheryl about it because it was funny. And Sara realized Jason had been saying his stomach hurt, and she hadn't realized it was muscles.
