Sadie's 11th Birthday

When I started planning Sadie's birthday, she didn't know what she wanted to do.  I offered her every activity I could think of in our area.  Some of them would've been really fun (and really expensive) but she was just noncommittal about everything.  Then she kept asking me what I wanted her to do.  She likes to please others.  I told her I just wanted her to have a fun time with her friends.  We looked at going to an escape room but she wanted to invite more people than the rooms would allow.  She really just wanted to have friends over and hang out at home.  But birthday parties need a theme and an activity.  So we finally decided to do an escape room at home that I would come up with.  I knew it would be a bit of work but I was excited.  I ordered some locks from Amazon and found some ideas on Pinterest.

I had fun decorating too!  And putting together a charcuterie board for her friends.
They flew through the clues faster than I had expected.  I only helped them once because they didn't notice the purse with the lock on it.  Other than that they got it all.  It was good that it didn't take too long because I didn't want them getting bored.  And this was on a school night so it wasn't a very long party.  And Sadie wanted to play mafia and frogger.

The prize they found at the end of the escape room was a prize ball for the game where you roll dice and get to unwrap it if you roll doubles or 7.  Everyone had fun.  These girls were all really fun.

Quincee, Brynlee, Olivia, Oaklee, Kaylee, Lydia, Sadie, Juliet, and Elyn up top.  They had a ton of fun playing mafia and frogger.  I would explain how to play them but they are complicated.

We had cupcakes at her party, but waited until the weekend to have her "cake".  She wanted chocolate lasagna so I had Kylee make it (and it looks like it was after her basketball game on Saturday).
