May 2022

May was full of SOCCER.  Plus a few other end of school activities thrown in as well.

The first weekend in May we had a tournament in Pocatello that Dylan and Kylee played in.  Kylee's team won every game and took the championship.  Dylan's team tied their first game and then lost the next two.

The second week in May we had a tournament in Idaho Falls, which my club was in charge of so I spent many hours helping with that.  Then Sadie, Dylan and Kylee all participated in it so there were many, many games. Kylee's team was doing well and somehow lost against PVSC, the same team they beat 4-1 the weekend before.  They were all pretty disappointed in themselves.  It came down to points at the end and PVSC had one more tournament point somehow so we took second.  Dylan's team lost, won, and lost.  Sadie's team did really well, they won, then tied, and during their semi-final Sadie took a knee in her thigh from a teammate and made it so she could barely walk.  She had to sit the rest of the game, which was probably 3/4 of it.  She was so disappointed and so sad that they lost.  I was not as sad because they would've had to play again, which would've been three games in one day.  And it was incredibly windy and miserable out there and the team they would've played was good and probably would've beat them good anyway.  But she was sad.  It was SO WINDY.

The last week in May we had State Cup in Boise that Kylee's team played in.  They play 5 games in three days, all within a 48 hour window.  It was intense.  They did so well!  There is some tough competition.  They won the first two games.  Then they played CGA, which we have played often because they are in our league, but they somehow beat us 5-1 which is disappointing.  We're usually pretty even with them.  Next they played a Boise team called Thorns and these guys were amazing.  I think they scored more goals off corner kicks than anything else, and half of those were with their heads.  It was 4-0 final.  So we played a final game for 3rd or 4th place.  It was a close game.  We were tied 1-1 with only a few minutes left.  We got a free kick so Kylee came up to take it.  She takes all the free kicks.  She took plenty of them this weekend.  Some of them went off frame, some the goalie got.  This kick was beautiful and went right in the top of the net.  The goalie jumped to try to get it but it touched her fingers and still went in.  It was amazing.  They were so happy!  So that won us the game and they placed 3rd in the state.  Because of that we earned a spot on the State League for next Spring.  That means more driving to Boise and more games on Sundays unfortunately, but these girls are doing so well and they want to compete against different teams.  Kylee and I love to hit up Trader Joes when we travel for a tournament.

My soccer mom friends!!  We have been sitting by each other for years now.  Love these ladies.
After the win.
We had dinner at Olive Garden and had a blast.  These girls love each other on and off the field.  I love them all and I love this team and how they play together and trust each other.

Along with these tournaments, we still had regular season games during the week, plus Kaden had football.  He had a really good team and a great coach and they went undefeated all season.  The playoff games got a little intense with parents, but we pulled it off and took the championship undefeated.  Too bad the majority of this team was 2nd grade and Kaden and Paxton were only 1st grade.  That means they can't play with them next year because it's 1/2 and 3/4 together.  Kaden loved it and he was able to run the ball for some touchdowns as well as catch a few balls and pull quite a few flags.  I had to miss the final game because I was out of town with Kylee.

During the IFFC tournament, Kylee had time to go to Prom with Avalon.  It was her first dance and shew as 16 but she didn't have a date so she decided to go with Avalon just for fun.  I'm glad she had fun, but I felt like it was a waste of a new dress, lol.  They were beautiful though.

Kaden's class went on a field trip to the zoo.  It was kind of funny, I had volunteered to chaperone but hadn't heard back from the teacher so I assumed she didn't need me.  I went on a bike ride with some friends and pulled in to my house and got a text message from his teacher saying she figured I was trying to park.  I freaked out and threw some real clothes on and raced over there to give her a much needed break.  It's always fun hanging out with these cute kiddos!

I put on the Warrior Run as a PTO fundraiser.  It was a bit of planning but it was really fun to be there all day with the kids.  I certainly don't want to be a teacher, but I do enjoy seeing all the kids and chatting with them and teasing them.

And last but not least, the 5th grade bike ride.  I haven't gotten to participate in this event in the past.  When Kylee did it I had some young kids at home.  With Dylan I planned to go but the event was canceled because of the weather.  Sadie's was postponed a week, but we had great weather and it was pretty fun.  Kind of fun.  Kind of annoying.  11 year old boys are super annoying. But I had fun being with Sadie.
