July is a great month for hiking! My friends and I are planning on hiking the Grand Canyon in the Fall so we are trying to get plenty of hikes in.
Upper Palisades Lake
I've never seen the water so high that it covers the island. This was crazy.
Ryan and I had a free Saturday so I asked if he wanted to hike. We decided to do Alaska Basin because he had never done it, but it is longer. Somewhere around 17 or 18 miles. It is a great hike though. Ryan never hikes that far, but he handled it fine. Once we hit the little lake about halfway through the loop he said, "this is fun but I would prefer to be done now." Lol. I guess 7-8 miles is his ideal distance. We saw a moose pretty early on.
We had a group of five of us for Table Rock. Julie was not available but Lisa came. It had been 90+ degrees every day so we certainly did not think it would be cold. Well, it was. It started raining on our way up and it was quite cold at the top! Kariesa hadn't brought a jacket. This couple we passed offered her this extra shirt. Not much but she took it. Thank you kind strangers!! (Sherri was pretty certain she knew the girl from high school or something but couldn't be sure until she could check social media later).
It's always a bummer when the clouds cover the tetons!! Good thing we live here so we've seen it before. It's kind of a trippy experience to see these huge mountains peek out of the clouds at times. That was what happened on my first ever trip up there.
