July Fun

Before I can move on to August stuff, I have to wrap up July.  It was a fun month!

We went to Ross Park again.  The kids have fun on the lily pads.  Ryan had fun too.

My raspberries came on strong!!  Yum!  I had the kids picking them for me until they were tired and whiney.  It was hard keeping up with them!  But I don’t think we let too many go to waste.

And this is a newer flower in my yard that I happened to take a picture of.  Clematis.

I met up with my crew at the park for a bit one day.  We can’t get together without taking a selfie I guess.  At least not when Ingrid is there.  The girl loves her pictures.  These girls are always a fun time.

Kaden!  I know I skipped over his 8 month update.  And he’s now 9 ½ months.  I will get there!!!  He’s so fun.

We went to the Delta Dental sponsored Chukars game again this year.  Dylan ended up nabbing a foul ball that nearly hit Ryan and/or Kaden.  It was pretty cool.  Luke got a ball when they were warming up too.  So they were both proud of their balls and they had the Chukars bird sign them.

Ryan decided to take Dylan on a hike the day after the baseball game.  He had planned on taking Kylee, but her foot had been hurting her and he wanted to do a LONG hike.  He wanted to take them up to Table Rock.  It’s like 12 miles.  And it’s not easy from what I’ve heard.  It’s a very popular hike here for young men and young women and whoever else.  I told Ryan it was a bad idea.  I told him Dylan was going to melt down on the mountain and he would have to carry him down.  I tried to get him to choose a different hike.  They wouldn’t listen to me.  They set off before 6 am with a backpack full of food and water (but sadly, no toilet paper- which would’ve come in handy later).  I got a call while we were eating lunch.  It was Dylan telling me he was at the top of Table Rock.  They had done it.  Mostly just to prove me wrong.  But also because of the square ice cream Ryan promised him.  I was incredibly impressed.

Ryan filled me in later about how Dylan freaked out at the top of the mountain.  A combination of being too hungry, cold, exhausted, and apparently afraid of heights- at least when the wind is blowing.  Ryan says he tried to stop before they reached the top, like “okay, great, we made it, let’s go back now.”  When they were just about to get to the top.  Funny.

So he was not in a picture mood at the top of the mountain.

But they said after they got down a little ways and ate something, he was much better.  They took the longer trail up and came down the face, which is steep.  Again, I’ve never been there but I hope one day to be invited to all these fun hikes everyone else goes on.

I took a trip to Logan to meet up with my high school friends.  Jaclyn is living in Tokyo so I don’t see or hear from her often.  We met at a park and the kids had fun playing while we chatted.  Marci and Karlee couldn’t make it.  We were actually supposed to meet the week earlier and Marci and Karlee were coming then and we were going to do dinner but I woke up with mastitis and a fever of 103.  I had to cancel.  They still went to dinner without me.  I was sad.  And I was sick for a good week.  I blame Kaden for biting me while nursing.  He’s better now.  I forgave him.  Anyway, we played at the park.  Dylan brought his new metal detector that he bought with birthday money and money from chores.

Our neighbors Nicole and Jameson Ferney invited us to go boating with them one evening.  It was a lot of fun.  The kids loved it!

Dylan, the thrill-seeker, always saying "faster" (thumbs up).

The tube they have is really big and sturdy so there’s not any real fear of tipping it over.  Of course Dylan is an adrenaline junkie and always wants them to go faster.

Even Sadie took a turn on the tube.  We convinced her we would go slow and it wouldn’t be scary.

Ryan did some surfing.

Then he took Dylan out there with him.  That was fun!  Dylan loved it.

I did some surfing too, but Ryan just took a video of that so no picture.  For the record though, it was my first time ever doing it and I got up easily and caught on fairly quickly.  But my leg muscles were dying from the new workout videos I had just started and I really thought I might pull a muscle.  Even still, it was fun to try it out.

The older kids got a little daring while we went slow so the younger kids could ride.

My brother Kevin came for a visit from Seattle.  He spent most his time in Cache Valley, but he drove up here to spend a few hours with me and the kids.  We had a good time.

And lastly, here are the big family pictures we took at the first of the month when Sara and her family were in town.  I thought they turned out really good!

And that was July (I mean, other than what I’ve already posted, like Lagoon, Bear Lake, the 4th… you know.)
