Sadie's Dance Recital

Sadie had her Christmas dance recital on Dec 12th.  I am very happy that the hairstyle for this outfit is just a bun.  It took so long to curl her hair last year!  Sadie enjoys dance.  She doesn’t ever complain about going or performing (she loves performing).  And sometimes she gets excited about it, but she doesn’t get excited every single time.  She asks about gymnastics and wishes she could go more often.  But with dance, it’s just something she does.  I don’t know how else to explain it.  I think she enjoys the friend-time as much as the dance steps.  But she’s adorable and she likes it okay so I guess that’s what matters.

At the dress rehearsal she did really well!  She was telling me about how she’s the best at keeping her smile out of her whole class.  And she did have quite the cheesy smile.  She did well with the dance, but I think she got a little carried away at the recital because there’s a spin and she just spun her little heart out and slipped right onto the floor!  She hopped back up and jumped back in.  But then there was another spin and this time she fell even harder!  Poor thing.  She jumped back up and then stood there for a minute.  I was on the edge of my seat wondering if she had hurt herself and was going to start crying.  But after a couple beats she jumped back in again.  Luckily there were no more spins!!  I was so surprised because they practiced three times and she never fell before.  I just think she was going all-out.  She had this big cheesy smile on and she was over-exaggerating the moves.  So she just threw herself into the spin and slipped.

When I went to pick her up backstage afterwards, I asked if she got hurt and she had her head down and was being a little quiet so I said, “was that embarrassing when you fell?”  She looked up at me like I was crazy and said, “no” with this confused look like ‘why would it be?’  I was like, well okay.  She did great jumping back up and going on with the show and she had fun and wasn’t bothered by her falls so we’ll call it a win!  She’s dang adorable, even though I don’t love it when she looks so grown up with makeup and everything.

After the show she got flowers (which she was expecting and a little sassy about- entitled much?) and then we went out for ice cream at Reed’s since the other kids had to sit through like 10 dances :)
Kylee and Sadie and I enjoyed watching the other dances, but we definitely didn’t stay for the whole thing.
