November Wrap Up

Here are a few phone pictures from November to wrap up the month.

Before Kaden could even walk, he was pulling himself to standing on the wall.  And he had seen us going out of the door so he was trying to get it open himself.  These door handles are so easy for little ones to open.  We'll have to make sure the dead bolt is on at all times or he may escape!

He also mastered the stairs really well.  He has only fallen once.  That was after he started walking and he tried to step onto the stair instead of sitting down and flipping around like he usually does.  It was really funny during our Thanksgiving get-together a few different times people kept freaking out because Kaden was headed for the stairs and they thought he would fall.  We're like, "he's okay".  Marcus in particular was insistent.  We had to let him watch Kaden kick his foot around to head down backwards before he could relax.  I'm happy he learned this quickly because the poor kid has had enough hits to the head, I can't handle him toppling down the stairs anymore.

Here's Kaden in the shower.  He's too cute to not take a picture of.  He loves showers.  Now he likes to walk around though, and it makes me nervous.  Also, he's getting dry skin and eczema so we're trying to cut back on how often we let him shower with us.

He is definitely a toddler.  He loves to explore and make messes.  It's a full-time job just cleaning up after him.

I was home with Dylan one day and Kaden wandered into the laundry room.  He was quiet in there for a few minutes so I sent Dylan in to check on him.  This is what he found.

Kaden had pulled a Snickers bar out of the garbage and ate it.  Dylan thought it was hilarious.  I thought it was gross.  I wasn't sure why there was a chocolate bar in the garbage, but found out later that Ryan had tried it and it was really old and yucky, probably from last Halloween or something.  So he threw it away.  Well, Kaden didn't mind.  This was his first taste of real yummy treats since it was before his birthday.

I love the video monitor we have for Kaden.  It is the best!  But we don't have a good place to put it.  I had it perched on the top of his crib with some tape underneath so it would stay.  But when he got old enough to stand, he started pulling it down.  We tried moving it to the changing table, but we couldn't see him, and he still reached for it when he woke up.  I decided he actually liked the little light and the camera that looks like an eye.  Plus, we can talk to him through it so to him, it is a little friend.  We tried moving it higher on the wall, perched around the frame above his crib.  But he pulled on the cord and almost brought the whole thing down so I stopped that immediately.  I gave up and now I just leave it in the corner of his crib.  I try and make it point towards him so I can see him, but usually when I look at it, he has moved it and so I can't see him anymore.  Sometimes he will be holding it so I will see his little face come in and out of the frame.  It's adorable.  When I went in his room for some reason, I saw this and I thought it was too cute.  He likes his little camera.  It's like a comfort item and he may need to keep it around for a long time.

In November, Kylee came down with a cold of some sorts.  She got pretty miserable and it lasted quite awhile.  She got a fever for a day, had a miserable sore throat, and coughed for weeks.  The same time as the fever, she got these swollen bumps on her feet and hands.  They were on her fingers, on the palms of her feet, they would come and last for maybe 10 minutes or so, then disappear.  It was kind of freaking me out.  She said she had them on her head a couple times.  I thought her body was attacking itself.  I didn't know what to think, really.  But her cold did improve and the bumps got less frequent for about a week and then they were gone.  This one wasn't the worst, just the only one I got a picture of because I sent it to my mom to ask her opinion.  There were some sticking out of the side of her foot that were really freaky.  They're about the size of a marble.

Let's hope it's nothing serious, not some autoimmune disease or anything.  It made me think of the little bump on her head when she was one that we had biopsied that turned out to be just eosinophils, which are the blood cells that react to allergies.  So I started wondering if she had some disease related to that.  It went away so I never took her in to see anyone.  I did ask my gut doctor what she thought since she deals with a lot of allergy stuff.  She didn't freak out, but did tell me to take her off gluten because that was the highest culprit of whatever her symptoms sounded like.  I didn't do that.  But I did buy her some probiotic stuff and I try to remember to give that to her occasionally.  All my kids benefit from probiotics, it gives them healthier bowels.  That's all I will say on the matter, just know that it works :)
