Kylee and Dylan did a session of Swim Club at the Apple. Sadie had too much going on with dance and basketball. Kylee really enjoys swimming and she is really good! I think she won every heat but one, and she was in the highest heat each time which means she was the fastest out of everybody there. She's a beautiful swimmer. Dylan doesn't love it so much, but I'm proud of how hard he worked. He had his friend Jared there with him so he didn't hate it quite so much this time.
Some of these pictures are repeats kinda. Turns out, if you post them to Instagram, the app saves a copy onto your phone- in jpg! Yay.
Kaden had been begging to swim so I decided to take him one Saturday when we didn't have plans. Kylee heard and begged to come too. My two little fish.
I took my girls ice skating again and we invited some friends to come along this time. It was fun! (I'm fairly certain I had some pictures of Sadie with her friends too but alas, not anymore. She had Brynlee and Cambry Summers and Kelsie Paskett) Pictured here are Kylee, Anna Lambson, Averi Summers, Kylie Paskett, Sadee Steele
Kaden is such a fun little companion. I was on the treadmill one morning and he was playing downstairs like he usually does. He got out my yoga mat and started doing some awesome moves, lol. (Another problem I have is that sometimes I don't know whether to video, take a picture, or take a Polo! I happened to be polo-ing my friends during this so that's why it's on the Marco Polo app and I just screenshotted it.)
We went shopping so the kids could spend the money burning a hole in their pocket. We found clearance Valentine's candy. In a moment of distraction I somehow agreed to let Kaden get these PJ Mask suckers, which are super cute! But SUPER dyed. I hate food dye, if you didn't already know this about me. But I'm not crazy! He ate these, about one a day for three days or might've skipped a day, and he got a huge rash on his lower lip / chin from his slobber with the food dye. He eats suckers all the time and never gets a rash like that so don't tell me it's not the dye. It's cute though and he was so happy.Soccer ended up cancelled one night I think, or maybe he was just after the game. I don't know, but Ryan was out of town and I decided to take the girls to see The Greatest Showman because Sydni had not seen it yet! Dylan hadn't seen it either so he decided to come. Even months after it opened, the theaters were still FULL and selling out. We had to sit right up front. Don't care though, love it!
Valentine's Day parties at school. I was in charge of sixth grade and I volunteered in first grade. I know I had more pictures of this, but I'm not too sad about that. I had fun being room mom for Kylee's class this year. Some of the kids are a bit too cool for my silly games, but they all had fun and got enough sugar to keep them happy. I played a candy bar game at one of them, and this one I did the prize ball wrapped in packing wrap. This is tissue paper hearts they had to pass with straws. Pretty funny. Kaden's usually a pretty good sport at the school. I mean, he often sits and watches YouTube, but if candy is involved he is all over it.
Some pictures Dylan's scout leader sent me of them with the police officer. One thing about Dylan is that he gets along with other kids pretty easily. He doesn't have any really good friends in his scout group but he never complains about going and seems to have a good time.
We also had the Blue and Gold Banquet, which I had to go to anyway because I am a Webelos Leader. They had the boys make cakes that had to be western themed or blue and gold. Dylan and I decided to do cake pops. Dylan helped make the balls and put the sticks in, I dipped them, and he poured sprinkles on top. They looked pretty. There were some cool ones though!
Sadie is really good at making up fun games for Kaden (and making BIG messes in the process). It's hard to get mad though when they are so cute.
This was a test the kids had at GATE. It cracked me up a little, not because Dylan got zero on it. But because the words are so ridiculous! I had to have Kylee help me to get the right answers so I could help him study for the re-take.
Kylee is a person that doesn't have to work too hard at things. Usually. Most things come easy for her. She's also a fast learner. So, when her piano teacher assigned her a song for Festival, and she didn't master it immediately, her piano teacher started stressing that it wasn't going to work out. I get the feeling that the piano teacher has very high expectations of her students at Festival. Kylee was a month out but she didn't have her song memorized so her teacher was wondering if they should get an easier song. So I told Kylee she needed to spend a ton of time working on her song one Saturday. I told her to take snack breaks, but to do it until she got it down. And if she could memorize it that day, I would reward her with Orange Leaf. Nothing motivates that girl more than ice cream, lol. Well, it was like 8 or 9pm when she finally had it well enough to show me. So I stuck by my word and I took her. She had spent about 3.5 hours working on it. BONUS for me is that I found a coupon she earned in like 5th grade but luckily it didn't have a date on it. So not only did she earn her ice cream from learning her song, but she earned it from getting A's so I didn't have to pay for most of it :) What an awesome kid. Her piano teacher breathed a bit easier after that too.
When we got Kylee's braces off, one thing both her Dr and I forgot about was that pesky frenulum that was in the way of her front teeth. Because he did them for free, he didn't have her treatment plan laid out in the system so he forgot and I hadn't been expecting them to take off the braces that day so I didn't think about it either. But when I mentioned it later he was like, oh right, bring her in next week and we'll get it done. So her awesome orthodontist who is also occasionally her soccer coach and the father of her teammate and an all around good guy and a great family, lasered her frenulum in his office for free. This is a simple procedure with rarely any problems. But Kylee hasn't ever had "work" done in her mouth, not serious work at least. So she got the shot to numb it, which stressed her body into a bit of a shock response. After that the laser didn't hurt, but when she stood up to go rinse out her mouth, she got really pale and her ears started to ring. She had to lie down for awhile with her feet elevated until her blood was pumping correctly again. Layne said he's never had that happen before. It made sense to me, I have that reaction occasionally. I took her to get a Jamba and had to show my mom how far they butchered it. I was a bit shocked they went so high. There was a big hole there I could've stuck a blueberry inside. But it healed up well.
