Soccer games finally started in June. Kaden and Jason were on the same team. They are dang cute.
Kaden got to have a preschool graduation finally. It was outdoors at his teacher's house and it was really fun.
Kylee loves the hurdles and she tried the high jump and did pretty well.
Dylan had to race against a 14 year old because there was nobody else competitive. He almost stayed with him!
Sadie sprinting with Tenley.
Sadie doing the long jump. She did pretty well at that! Dylan tried it too and liked it. I got a picture of him at the final meet.
And just for fun, Kaden playing twister just happy to be alive.

I also did a bunch of hikes in June. With Covid, we have had a bit more time to fit in hikes. We have been going as a group every week! Then I added in the one with my mom and the family one so I got a bunch!
I didn't realize that Darby Wind Caves were so much higher than the hikes we had already been on this Spring. There was way too much snow to get up to the cave, even if we knew exactly where we were going, which we didn't. I mean, we've done the trail plenty but it gets confusing as you get closer. And the snow made us lose the trail completely. It's funny because it wasn't cold at all until all of the sudden it was completely covered in snow and the temperature dropped. We were fine in our shorts for awhile but did start to get cold eventually. Kariesa sunk down at one point, all the way to her thigh! At least we had a good time, even if it was a fail.
We went to Upper Palisades next, which was so beautiful! The following week we had planned to do Bear Creek but I heard there was a bear sighted at the trail head and, though we are not that worried about bears, we figured it wouldn't be too smart to go there knowing a bear is around. But Kariesa had missed the previous week to Upper Lake and she had changed her schedule so she could hike so we just did Upper Lake again. I didn't complain. I freaking love that hike.
Upper Lake is about 13 miles but we went a bit further around the lake so it was closer to 14 or 15 both times. Then I did Aspen with my mom the next day, which was 10 miles.
We decided to try something new the next time called Little Elk Creek. The problem was there were two trailheads and the sign called them both Little Elk Creek. I don't know why I had in my head that we should go left. I had attempted this trail with my family a couple years before and I remember it being overgrown with lots of mosquitoes. There were still lots of mosquitoes and it was VERY overgrown. I was wearing shorts, and at one point I walked through some dense foliage and my legs started stinging bad! I saw some thistle so I figured it had just scratched me quite a bit. The mosquitoes were also biting pretty badly. And it started raining on us. I was not loving the hike... I pulled out my phone to see how much further we had to do this, and found that we were definitely on the wrong trail. We decided to call it a day and turned around. Seriously, it was so muddy and I was being eaten like crazy! I was not happy. My bites calmed down in the car, but later that night they itched and tingled so bad I couldn't sleep. I was so mad. But they hurt most where there were no mosquito bites so we decided we had ran into some stinging nettle. I still had tons of bites though. And I definitely got eaten a lot more than those people wearing pants. Lesson learned. Epic fail.
Do you see the blue dot, showing where we were? And the red trail where we were supposed to be. I mean, you just have to laugh. And Jen had voted we go the other way so she was a little smug, haha.
