There were plenty of new and unique places to eat in CDA, but our kids are super annoying about trying new things and not adventurous at all! The first day we went to a place called Melt, which was really fun. It had grilled cheese, but not just regular. They had potsticker, which had all the stuff from potstickers in it and a dipping sauce. It had this bbq pork one that had pork and macaroni and cheese inside it. Anyway, it was really cool but they were huge.
We stopped at the grocery store on Saturday so we could get some food and avoid going out to eat on Sunday. The kids were excited to try Cup o Noodles, but once we got them in the hotel we saw the instructions that said not to microwave the cup. So I tried using the coffee maker and it boiled water and worked well!
There were shops by the lake in the downtown area. We tried a couple different ice cream shops and walked around. Kylee wanted to go to Fern to look at plants and found Poppy and Pout chapstick. We spent some time in a toy store and found a few fun things.
There was a park and splash pad by the lake and by Tubb's Hill that Sadie and Kaden enjoyed. Dylan and I hung out in the shade.
We used the gym and the pool quite a bit! Well, these two used the pool a lot and I used the gym a lot, haha.
Packing all six of us in a hotel room for six nights was not ideal. In fact, when we first got there and Kylee looked around, she asked why we couldn't have two rooms (and I told her she was welcome to pay $1500 for her own room). She then had a little quiet meltdown as she stressed about having no privacy for the whole week. Ryan and I were frustrated that our kids can't just enjoy being together as a family. But Kylee is an introvert and she values her own space. We are used to having a couch that has a small mattress that pulls out underneath it so there's two places to sleep without sharing. It's hard to ask anyone to share a bed with Dylan. But we made up a bed in the closet and Dylan slept there the first night, and we made them move around and Sadie slept there the next which put Kylee in bed with me so Dylan could have to pull out bed. And that seemed to be the best situation for everyone. Sadie didn't mind the closet, and though Kylee would've preferred to have the pull out bed to herself, she wasn't willing to take a turn in the closet. Ryan and I were worried that we had spoiled them in Mexico having two rooms. I started thinking maybe an airbnb would be better even without the pool and free breakfast. But by the last few nights everyone seemed content and nobody was melting down or having huge fights so I call it a success.
