September was mostly filled with soccer and a little football. That was after Africa and all. We were pretty busy getting into our groove with Fall sports and school. But I did have a little fun.
This was Alaska Basin trail. It was really pretty in the Fall, but much colder up top than I was expecting! My hands were freezing. I wanted to run to get past the exposed part up top but I didn't have the energy or oxygen at that elevation. It was much better once we started down again. 18 miles and felt pretty good this year.
The weather was really nice (once it finally got below 90) and I didn't have a ton to do during the day (other than planning PTO stuff) so I started heading out golfing by myself and I really enjoyed it! I would wear a headphone and listen to music. I played a couple balls sometimes. It was really fun. I also went out with Cheryl and her friends a few times to Sandcreek.
Our neighbor and good friend put on a 5K to raise money for a family he knows and we happened to be free that morning so Kylee and Ryan and I ran it. There weren't very many people there so we ended up being in the front. I wasn't trying to go super fast and couldn't figure out why nobody was passing me. I also got a little confused on the course. Eventually Ryan passed me. He waited for me at the finish so he could pretend to push me out of the way for the photographer. Then I was worried about Kylee getting lost because there really was nobody else around us. But she came in shortly after us. We took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! Andersons SWEPT it! Again, not a competitive race but that was fun.
I don't really like standing by my tall family members so I was on my toes. Then they made fun of me so I dropped down. Gosh, I look short with them!
THREE FULL MONTHS after hitting a dead deer in the road, my car was finally finished and I got her back. I didn't have her all summer long. I'm still sad because I'm worried she will have future problems related to it but so far so good.
Occasionally I will have teachers reach out to me individually about my kids, which is always nice. This one was so complimentary, it surprised me a little. Especially since Dylan has been a bit moody and angry at home. I'm sure he's worn out from soccer and school. It's always nice to hear that your kids are being good people when they're away from you.
