We ended up with the monster, which he loved. Though he really liked the golfer too and wanted to go outside to golf while he was wearing it.
Sadie chose the witch costume from our costume box. She went back and forth for a long time trying to decide what to be. She was going to be Elsa, or a witch, or a few other things. For me, who likes to plan ahead, this mind-changing was a bit stressful! But I finally got her to commit to the witch and I went out in search of some makeup to make it really cool. Because I tried the green face with Kylee and that didn't turn out all that great. Dylan's was easy and a no-brainer. He loves Pokemon. If you aren't familiar with Pokemon, this character is Ash Ketchum. He looks like this:
It was fairly easy to put together. And for Kylee I just searched Pinterest for something that wouldn't require a bunch of work or a bunch of money (I spent a LOT of time on last year's costumes). We decided on football player because it was cute and cool. Tweens are fun. The pictures on Pinterest had tutus with them, and I thought about making one but then we decided they seemed a little "little-girl" so we skipped it. Less work for me! I did have to find a matching bow, though.
All in all, I was very pleased with how adorable my kids all turned out!! Seriously, look at them!
How fun is Halloween? I love it. I always have.
So, I'm the room mom for Dylan's class (I was asked, I didn't volunteer. Not because I don't like it, just because I'm busy and I have a toddler. But it's okay.) So I organized a fun Halloween party and Kaden got to come and party with us. He LOVED it! The mom at the treat table was very generous and she also had the donuts sitting within his reach...
I also got to go to Kylee's little Halloween program for 5th grade. They did talents and skits and stuff. She played the piano. She had a little song she had been playing at piano lessons but her teacher asked her if she could learn The Adam's Family. So I found it online and she quickly learned it, memorized it, and played it as the intro when everyone was coming in. She's pretty impressive sometimes!
Funny how awkward kids are sometimes when you ask if you can take a picture. They stand all stiff next to each other. When do they learn to pose? To lean in? To put their arm over each other? Anyway, Sydni is super cute. They've been close friends since first grade. And yes, she is the same age. She is incredibly tall!
I dressed up in an easy costume for Dylan's party and for trick or treating.
And I drew a cute spider on Sadie's cheek. And I found a broom for her. She couldn't be a witch without a broom!
Trick or treating was fun! Kylee and Dylan decided they were going to hit as many houses as possible. This is the first year I allowed them to ditch Sadie and me. So they took off. They may have been with friends for part of it. But they were gone. They came home once or twice to empty their stash before heading back out.
But I had fun with Sadie and Kaden. They were so cute!! Kaden caught on really fast. After the first house gave him a sucker and I let him eat it, and the next house put something in his bucket, he decided he liked trick or treating. He made me carry him a bit (or Sadie made me because she was sick of waiting for him) but he didn't complain. He followed Sadie all over and tried to say Trick or Treat and Thank You. I got few videos of the cuteness. I couldn't stop smiling. Cutest little monster I've seen since Dylan wore that outfit five years ago!
The ONLY downfall is that he learned the word "treat" this night. Before this, he really never noticed if the kids were eating candy. He never begged. He didn't know what he was missing and didn't care. But after this, anytime anyone went near the cupboard where the kids kept their stash, he would point and beg "treat! treat!" Darn it. It was only a matter of time I suppose.
So much fun!!
