Kaden Turns 2

Kaden turned two!  What a fun, sweet boy he is!  I mean, besides the big fit he threw during Sadie's Thanksgiving feast at school when I wouldn't give him a cookie...  He was really good until he got sugar on Halloween and turned into a treat monster!  Treats and electronics make him "terrible" but otherwise he is not a terrible-two-year-old.  If he is acting up, we threaten time-out.  Sometimes he goes and puts himself in time out.  Seriously, though.  He is very well-behaved compared to some of our other kids at two.  And he doesn't like to get dirty, and if he is he asks us to wash his hands.  He doesn't just run around the house getting sticky fingerprints all over everything.  I love that about him.  One of my favorite things is when he says "hold you" with his arms stretched up to me.  So sweet.

I took him to the Dr around his birthday and he weighed in at 30 lbs 14 oz (82%) and 36 inches (92%).  He is a big kid!  He's solid, not fat :)  He is definitely hard to carry around and hurts my back.  But I have strong arms!

When he turned two, Ryan and I were still worried about his speech.  He seems on track with everything else.  And the Dr said he should be saying 50 words, which he does, they're just really hard to understand out of context.  And there are some sounds that he never makes.  Like S or K or G.  He usually only says one consonant sound per word, unless it's a repeat sound like poopoo.  But a little after he turned two he started putting two words together and progressed quickly from there.  (Since I'm writing this in March, I'll say that he is speaking a lot! Though still struggles with articulation.  But we are working on it.)

Since we had just celebrated Sadie's birthday, and Kaden is too young to really remember or care, his was a little more low-key.  I made a cupcake cake and we opened presents on his birthday.  The first present he opened was a shake-n-go car, similar to the one he dropped down our vent over a year ago which is still there because we can't get it out.  He loved that car and didn't care to open any other presents.  But the kids helped and I think he was pretty happy with what he got!  It's hard having November birthdays because they get so many presents in Nov and Dec and none the rest of the year.  I feel like they need a 1/2 birthday celebration.
