This was Dylan's first Pinewood Derby. We were excited! I was a bit surprised how serious everyone took it. Boys were back there adding liquid graphite like crazy. Ryan tried using a saw to cut a car for him, but we didn't have the right kind of saw. So Grandpa went to Hobby Lobby and got a kit that already had the car cut. Dylan then had to sand, paint, add stickers, glue wheels, he added the "muscle" details with glue. He did it all himself. We double checked to make sure he didn't mess up the wheels. And we helped him weigh it and so we knew how many weights to add. It was fun.
I think he learned some things for next time. We will have to find someone to let us borrow their saw so we can cut it slim like they wanted to.
I'm not sure who was more excited, Dylan or Kaden. (Probably Kaden).
He took 2nd and 3rd most of the time. Last a couple of times. He held his own.
It was fun having Grandma and Grandpa there cheering him on!
