At the beginning of the year I promised not to post about
food. But this is fun stuff, not about
healthy or unhealthy or what I am able to eat or not eat. Blah.
Boring stuff. This is just some pictures
I took to give myself an idea of things I pack for the kids’ lunches. And a couple other things.
I started this board, and it was really fun. I would plan out our meals for the week
(well, at least the kids’ meals) and then they knew exactly what was on the
menu. And it helped me to make sure they
got a variety, instead of oatmeal every day or ham every day.
Sadly I haven’t been very good at updating it
lately. We got so busy in the Fall that
I had a hard time sticking to plans because there wasn’t time. Or I would be too tired at night to make muffins
or granola bars for the morning. But I
hope to use it again soon.
Sadie doesn’t like bread much. The kids love pizzas with my homemade crust
(and Sadie does eat it just fine when I make the big pizza for dinner, but at
lunch she doesn’t love the mini crusts I have made) so when I give the kids
pizzas for lunch, I make Sadie a crustless pizza in a frying pan. It’s awesome!
Just cheese and toppings. She
loves it. Gluten-free pizza at its best
:)
Here are some lunches I’ve packed the kids.
Pizza crust, pepperoni, peppers, cheese (under the toppings), marinara sauce in the small containers, strawberries, veggie chips and fruit/veggie squeezer. Sheesh, they ate a lot back then. Dylan was growing and Kylee was doing tons of exercise.
Ham and pepperoni sandwiches. Kylee prefers hers rolled up in a tortilla with hummus. Raspberries, peas, Kind bar and small treat.
Hot dog / Corn dog. Dylan prefers corn dogs. Or at least he used to before he got sick of them. Now he prefers no dog at all, but will eat a bunless hotdog when necessary. Peppers (Dylan prefers ranch with his, Kylee doesn't), blackberries, crackers and I think that's a homemade granola bar in the baggies. Or it could've been a treat I made the night before.
(I think Dylan was sick this day so I only did Kylee's) PB&J, string cheese, strawberries, peppers, nacho cheese corn chips
How cute are the new yumbox lunchboxes I got
this year?? Ziploc discontinued their
sectioned lunchbox containers for some reason, which really bums me out because
my kids (Dylan) have lost lids by leaving them at school. So I ordered some of these ones and I think
they are great.
This was a lunch I made in the summer for a picnic for them. Ham rolled with cheese inside, pepperoni, peas, strawberries, dark cocoa almonds
Ham rolled with cheese, celery, PB to dip celery, grapes, nuts and raisins, homemade fruit snacks :)
And just for fun, these are carrots I grew. I thought they were so pretty I had to take a picture!
Here I was steaming them to make baby food.
