Sadie's Birthday

Sadie’s birthday celebration did last all week long.  Her birthday was on Tuesday, so we made some cupcakes to take to preschool.  I had thought there would be enough cupcakes to take to dance as well but the organic cake mix I bought only barely made 19 cupcakes.  Oh well.  I gave her a cute birthday hat to wear to dance instead.

That night we went to dinner at Leo’s Place per her request.  She wanted to play.  The kids ate pizza and played, then did some of the arcade games and chose some prizes with their tickets.  Once we were home the kids got to eat the leftover cupcakes from preschool.  And of course we opened presents.

Sadie has been with me shopping and pointing out all sorts of things she wants.  I would tell her I would put it on her wishlist for birthday and Christmas.  She liked that idea.  Most of the stuff was anything that has to do with Frozen.  She also got a cute little talking bird a little early from Grandma Anderson.  This was her face opening most of her presents.  Priceless.

She loved all her presents and didn’t get much sleep because she was busy playing with toys.  She promptly put on her Elsa dress and sang with her microphone over and over again.  One happy girl.
We had her birthday party at their gymnastics gym.  We invited 13 people but one couldn’t come so we had the perfect amount (since I only had 12 party favors!)

The kids had a blast!  Of course!

Dylan went to work making a massive maze/jungle gym.  He had help from a lot of the little people too.
Ava Grigg, Devri Campbell, Brynlee Denning, Elise Tervort, Sadie Bug, Kelsie Paskett, Raine Jarvis, Grace Bitter, Dempsey Holland, Zoe Stoddard, Sydney Brizzee, Gavin Lamph and Tyson Anderson!  Cute group of kids!
I love present time with kids.  They crowd the birthday girl so much.
It was a really fun day, and she got a lot more fun presents to keep her busy.

Finally the next day, which was Sunday, we got to make her cake and had the cousins over.  And Grandma Stokes got to town in time to celebrate with us!

I had agreed to do a Barbie cake for her, but when we were looking on Pinterest for cakes, she saw an Elsa cake and really, really wanted it.  As much as I didn't want to.  She loves Elsa so I agreed.  I spent a long time trying to figure out how I was going to get blue without artificial dyes...  I finally ordered some butterfly pea flowers from Thailand.  They got here in plenty of time.  But when I dyed the frosting it looked more gray/purple.  So I gave in and used just a bit of Wilton.  I figure these years where they want character cakes are limited.  As they get older they care more about flavor.  So I gave her what she wanted.  Elsa with a real blue dress.  The cake was a little lop-sided, but she LOVED it!  Mission accomplished.

After all that, it was time to work on Kaden's birthday stuff.  Sadie was less than thrilled to let him have the spotlight.  It's going to be that way forever and ever so I hope she gets used to it!
