I like Seattle! I got to spend time with Kevin and some time with his girlfriend Vanessa as well. We went out for dinner- they were trying to find me some fish tacos per my request, but I ended up getting steak instead. But I got some salmon on the pier the next day so I was happy. We had a free day so Kevin and I hung out and walked around. Vanessa gave us a ride downtown and we walked along the water and checked out the art. Seattle is big into art. It's everywhere. Strange pieces, cool pieces, you name it. We stopped at this vivarium to check it out. They took this log from the forest nearby where it had fallen naturally and they spend a lot of time and effort providing as natural an environment as possible to show how the log turns into a life force for growth in the forest. Kinda neat.
We made our way down to the market. We walked around checking out all the shops and taste-testing things. I was looking for souvenirs for my kids. I'm really jealous of the flowers there! So pretty and so cheap. There's a lot of stuff that I would like to buy there if I actually lived in Seattle.
Jen flew in and picked us up in her rental car. Then we went hunting for blackberries. I thought it would be a good time for them since this is the time I went a few years back. And there were bushes but they were small and not very sweet. I think it was a bad year because it was so hot. I still at them. We got a lot of scratches and snagged clothing looking for them. We walked to Lake Washington (I think, but that sounds like the one by my mom so now I'm confused).
The next day was our Spartan. We were all getting a bit nervous. I was worried because all the walking had made my legs achy. And there was still the threat of rain.
But, as you know from my previous post, the Spartan was awesome.
Later that night, we went to this Light Festival that Vanessa had heard about. Vanessa is very interested in LED lights and so this was right up her alley. It was a pleasant evening just hanging out. The kids everywhere loved Vanessa's light whips.
Again Seattle is awesome. It would be a fun place to live. If you like big city.
