For Ryan's birthday, I made a trifle. This time I made the angel food cake from scratch and it was yummy!
Sadie was in the Apple Swim Club over the summer. She worked hard! She was moved up to the faster intermediate lane, and was one of the first in that lane. Driving home one day she told me that she wanted to cry in the middle of it. She said she was just so tired. I told her she could pull back a bit, she didn't have to go so hard. She said "then they would move me back in line and that would be embarrassing." She's a bit competitive!
During the swim meet, I'm not sure what happened. I think she was a bit nervous. But she started saying her stomach hurt. She pretty much melted down right before her heat and they couldn't convince her to get in. It was backstroke, which is her best stroke too. I was so mad. She only had two events she was even in. They added her to another group, and she won but it wasn't really fair since she hadn't been put against them to begin with, probably because she was always faster than them. Anyway, she swam hard and did good on the ones she did. But I was so bothered that she melted down. I blamed it on the fact that she had a sleepover the night before and didn't get enough sleep. Lack of sleep makes stress worse, and can cause upset stomach or stomach pain.
She's a good little swimmer, but I'm not sure she loves it. I wish she would stick with it because it's such a good skill to have, but she thinks it's so much work now.
Grandma took Kaden and Jason to this kids event and they had fun. It may have been the Roaring Youth Jam? I can't remember.
I took the kids to Ammon Days. We always have fun. Sadie volunteered to sit in the dunk tank because it was hot. Dylan enjoyed throwing balls to dunk her.
Kaden had fun at the karate place, and the bow and arrow shooting. He had a lot of fun.
This was Kylee on the wall.
Biking in the mornings is so nice in the summer. This is the first time I rode to Blacktail Lake. It's a good ride!
Lake day for Indgrid's birthday! We are enjoying the new paddle board!
Ijump with the cousins
Lava Hot Springs with the cousins. We have a lot of fun!
Boys sleepover
This hummingbird! This little guy was in our garage all day. The poor thing couldn't figure out how to get out, even though the door was open. He must've worn himself out because by the end of the day, he was on the ground taking cover under a stroller. I moved the stroller and startled him. So I decided it was time to get him out. I scooped him up with something and carried him out to the flowers, but it had been a hot day and he was not going anywhere and I figured he was not well. I went in and got some water, while Dylan googled what to feed them (sugar water). He had spiderwebs on his beak and wings, which I pulled off, and he didn't shy away from me. After I got the water and dripped some on a leaf, he still didn't drink it. So I sat down on the ledge right by him and he flitted a bit trying to fly and landed on my thigh. Then he stayed there. I was in shock, and my kids were freaking out. So I offered him the little cup. He eventually hopped onto the peony leaves and I got him to drink from me. His looooong tongue was licking water from my fingers. It was crazy cool. I was worried about him. We left the cups out there and went inside. A little while later he flew himself up on our roof, which I thought was a much safer place for him. We can only assume he survived and flew off. But we feel responsible for nursing him back to health!
These two have similar eye color. They were both climbing on me in front of the window so I decided to take a picture.
I got my car detailed and it made me so happy!
I love harvest time. Kaden is a big helper with the corn.
