It's been a good soccer season! There have been a few cold games. Mostly just from wind. We haven't really been rained on, luckily. The kids have loved it and have all played really well. Dylan's team is undefeated (knock on wood, because they have two games left). Dylan hasn't quite scored yet this season but he has come close. And he has ran really hard and done some great defense. He is goalie the first quarter of every game. He's pretty good at goalie because he isn't scared. But he still has some things to learn. That being said, I think there was only one game that he has been scored on. He runs really hard and is exhausted by the end of the games every time. So awesome!
Dylan and Sadie are in the AYSO league. Kylee is in BYSL. Because of that she plays co-ed. Her team has like 6 girls and 3 boys. Most of the other teams have maybe 1 or 2 girls, some have none. Now, our girls are pretty good. But not all of them and it's hard to keep up with boys at this age. The boys that are on her team have never played before. But they've been pretty good. Kylee's team has won some games and there's been a few really ugly games. One in particular Kylee was goalie for the first half and they scored like 5-6 times. Kylee was looking pretty defeated. I thought she might beat herself up or get emotional. Instead she got angry. She was so angry. She vowed not to let another goal in, begged the coach to put her as defender, and she did not let another goal in. She was amazing. If she had decent defenders for her she wouldn't have been scored on so much. Honestly I'm a little disappointed in her team in general. Kylee is pretty much the MVP. Which is fun. She's scored plenty of goals. But I think it's time for her to learn a few more things and play with a team that gets it. Her team just doesn't seem to get it half the time. They would all hang back, or they would clump together. Nobody would run up to accept a pass, etc. Her coach has been working on it with them this last few weeks because I've seen them trying. They're doing a V formation up to the goal. I know the coach is trying. But like I said, half her team just doesn't seem to get it. I hope to get her on a good team next time. But then again, she moves up to U12 which is all girls so things will be a bit different. I will probably move Dylan and Sadie over to BYSL next season as well. That way we won't have Saturday games :)
Kylee does love her coach, though. Her last game is tonight.
