The kids enjoyed swim club. Well, Kylee enjoyed it anyway. Dylan and Sadie would have happily dropped out. But they enjoy swimming. Kaden and I occasionally swam while they were in their lessons. And then we stayed for a bit and let them play. One day we had plans with cousins and so we invited them to come swim too.

I already mentioned my trail run the day my dad passed away. But here are the rest of the pictures. Jill and I ran to Lower Pallisades the first time. It was about 8.5 miles.
We went again a few weeks later and Ryan came with us. This time we went to the Upper lake. It was about 13.5 miles. We were a bit slower than I anticipated this time. My leg started hurting, the trail was harder to run on in places. And at the end, we were all just tired, but especially Ryan and Jill (I run more than them). It was really beautiful though! We ran into a lot more traffic this time because it was later by the time we were finishing. The horses were super annoying. The trail just isn't very wide to let a horse by.
We had a few fireworks.
The kids were able to hang out with cousins at Grandma's house a few times. They sure love these little pools. Grandma has a big, fun yard.
I made another trip to Logan (four weeks in a row) so I could meet up with my friends for dinner. Jaclyn didn't show, which was super disappointing because she's the only one that doesn't live around here. But I guess she was running late, her phone died, and her kids were struggling so she didn't want to leave them for her parents to deal with. But we had a good dinner and good conversation!
Kaden gives lots of loves. Sometimes too much, maybe?
The night before Ryan and I ran the Pallisades trail with Jill, I was making energy balls. They are my go-to for races or big training because they are perfect macros (fat, carbs, protein), easy to grab on the go, and yummy! Dylan was watching me make them and wanted some. I told him no (because it was late and he had already brushed his teeth). Jokingly I told him he could have them if he ran 12 miles like Dad and I. We were talking about how many laps around the block that would be (24). So then he asked what I would give him if he ran 48 laps. I said, "$1000". Clearly, it was a joke because there was no possible way Dylan could run 24 miles. I told him as much. I told him people train for months to be able to run a marathon. But he was confident. I told him it had to be on a day I was home so I could monitor him. And on a day he doesn't have swim club or grit league because he will be too tired. So he decided on a Wednesday. And all the days leading up to it he planned out how he would spend his money. About how he could have an energy ball after the first 12 miles. He started telling his friends that he was going to earn $1000. It was a whole big thing. I tried to tell him that it was impossible. He didn't listen.
The day came. I went to the lake for my morning swim, and as I got home, he was out walking/jogging. He had already done a few miles. Ryan gave him Sports Beans after like five miles. He had to take a break to go to The Edge with cousins, where he climbed and climbed for like two hours. Then he went home and ran some more. He had done about 11.5 miles when he and Kylee decided to walk to Maverick. It's about two miles from home so he was going to add four miles. They walked there and spent like $5 on candy and ice cream. While they were gone I started talking to Ryan about what would happen if he actually made it to 24 miles. Ryan was like, "he's not getting $1000." True. I decided I better break the news to him before he worked any harder and got super mad. So I drove to Maverick to check on them. I picked them up and drove them home. Dylan was not as upset as I had expected. He was actually really tired. He was not acting tired previously. He acted fine. Which is why I started getting worried. But yeah, he was tired. I posted this to Instagram.
The next day he was super whiny and didn't want to do swim club and said his legs hurt really bad. I tried and tried to get him to eat and drink the day he ran but he was not that hungry. I was worried about him. He asked me, "do you hurt like this every time you run far?" No, because I don't go from nothing to half marathon. Crazy kid.
I forgot to add these phone pictures from the 24th, and they were too cute to leave out.
We finally took Kylee in to get her eyes checked again and to get her some contacts. We had some fights about her wearing her glasses in the Spring. I was so annoyed that we spend money on glasses and she refused to wear them. She couldn't see that well, but she hated her glasses. Because some of her friends had said, "I like you better without glasses." I was bothered. And she was mad at me. And then both Ryan and my mom said they sided with Kylee. Glasses are annoying. They only wore them when they absolutely had to. I didn't understand because I had never had glasses. Anyway, contacts were a compromise. I wasn't sure still. I was worried she would not like them in her eyes, that she still wouldn't wear them. That we would have a hard time deciding what day would be worth putting in contacts. But she was excited.
Averi came along to her appointment. They had fun trying on glasses.
We had to decide to order her daily (super expensive for people without insurance, but very convenient) or two-weeks. And then where to order them from, comparing, etc. We talked to some friends about what they do. She tore the trial contacts. Twice. We decided those might not be the best brand to get. So we got her bioinfinity. They last 3-4 weeks. She's done great with them and enjoys being able to see! She wears them every day.
Since Kylee was always too busy to play with Sadie, she agreed that Sunday could be "sisters day" because they can't play with other friends that day. So Sadie made a list of activities for her and Kylee to do together. And they dressed the same after church this day too so I took a picture. It's really cute that Kylee gives her attention on Sundays. Sisters are so lucky.
