April 2024

Spring soccer is crazy.  We had some really cold games...

This was I think our second game and it was really close but we won and their smiles were awesome.

The PVSC tournament had some cold and rainy days.  Kaden's team played well but they didn't pull of the win.  2nd place is okay but Kaden was upset.  He's like, "all that for nothing" and by that I think he means all the games but also the freezing cold and driving to Pocatello so many times.

Kylee's team had to play their final on Sunday, which was super annoying.  They lost to CGA.  Literally the only team they lost to this season.

Kylee had a birthday and she's now an adult!!

She asked for a season pass to Lagoon for her birthday.

Sadie ran for activity leader for student council.  I'm surprised I don't have a picture of her finished poster but it was FRIENDS themed and it was cute.  She used this picture.  She ultimately lost the election but she was chosen by the teachers as one of the students that are on stuco without being one of the elected positions (I don't really know how it works).
There was definitely some freezing cold days earlier in the month, but then we had some warm weather come through.  I have been wanting to bike the road in Grand Teton National Park during April because they don't open it to traffic until May. It worked out that I had a Friday off AND it was supposed to be warm.  I think it was 70's at home but 60's in the park.  I invited my friends to come with me, knowing they wouldn't bike but wanting company for the drive and figured they could hike while I ride.  Kariesa had kid's stuff.  Sherri was free.  Jen was a maybe.  But when I didn't hear back from Jen I figured she was too busy.  She's usually too busy lately (not her fault, she's taking classes and she's RS pres).  Sherri didn't want to hike alone, which is understandable.  I was really ready to just go alone but decided I just didn't want to drive that far alone and depressed.  Jen texted that morning and said she was good to go (I'm sure she made some sacrifices to help me celebrate my birthday in this way and I love her for it.) So it was last minute but I through my bike in my car and we headed out.  It was awesome!!  Honestly, I wasn't expecting so much snow.  There's no snow at home anymore.  So that was surprising.  But riding next to those mountains was magical.  And the temperature was really great.  I was hoping to see a bear, but I didn't (I saw a friend who went a day of two later and they did see a bear).  There were lots of people riding or walking or rollerblading on the road.  It ended up being like 17 miles round trip I think.  It was just what I needed.

After the ride/hike we went into Jackson for the candy shop and ice cream before heading for home. My friends are the best!
On my actual birthday I had a really great present because Taylor Swift released a new album on my birthday!!  It was really released at 10pm the night before so Kylee and I were listening and texting each other.  Then at midnight she announced it was actually a double album and 15 more songs were added.  Best day ever!  On my birthday my sisters in law and mother in law took me to lunch and I invited Kylee because she has such an open schedule these days.  It was awesome.  Kylee also gave me this cute Taylor Swift sweatshirt.  It has the bridge to Death by a Thousand Cuts on the back.
I made it out golfing a little, and this was my tee shot on hole 3 (obviously it's a par 3) but look how close it was to being a hole in 1!!  That is the downside to playing alone.  If I ever do get a hole in one, I won't have a witness.  This one actually had a group of men in front of me that saw it and complimented me.
Liza had a birthday a few days after me too and so we all went to see her.  Lots of pictures of these girlies in the last few months!

Kylee is an Adult

18 birthdays of Kylee.  Time really does fly.  Part of me can remember her as a tween like yesterday.  But also looking at her now, it's hard to imagine her the tiny little thing she used to be.  She's always been independent and hard working.  She's good at everything she tries.  She worked her tail off through school and sports and I hope she can have some fun as well as find some new goals to work for in the future.  We love her so much.  I'm going to miss having her here but it will be really good for her to be out on her own.
