July- Summer Fun

Summer Fun!  Rigby Lake with friends.

Jen and I participated in The Great Race for our neighbor's business.  It's a lot of fun.  We got stuck on one clue and ran way further down the river than we needed to, so yeah we lost.  Still fun though!

Lava Hot Springs, but clearly we didn't take many pictures.
More lake days!
Sadie went to Girls Camp, without me this time.

Trying to get Kaden to be a golfer.  He does a good job.  We have fun.

Kaden and I played soccer golf at our park disc golf course.  I needed to work on my hard kicks so Kaden played with me.  It's a lot of fun.  You get 8 throws, so one hole you have to pop it in with your foot.
Dylan was invited to go to FSY with his friend Sam, which was nice because he had said he had no interest in going.  He met Sam at FSY a couple years earlier.  I'm not sure if he loved it, but I'm glad he went.

I drove them down and dropped them off so I met up with Carol for lunch and stopped by Everbowl on my way out.  Love, love, love Cafe Zupas and Everbowl.

Soccer camp at the new Stadium on turf at 93 degrees!

Kylee and I decided to go school shopping and then walk around Utah State before we pick up Dylan and Sam.  She hasn't spent much time there and she's starting next month so we thought it would be fun to find the buildings that her classes are in so she knows where she's going.  Kylee has been getting stomach pain, and we realized this day that it must be corn chips.  Doritos, the tortilla strips in her salad, etc.

"The Chris" soup is cauliflower cheddar and tomato together.

The fires are really putting a damper on my summer plans.  We wanted to go hike in the Sawtooths but look at how smoky it was.
We are planning a trip to Oregon and the whole state is on fire....

More Hikes

July is a great month for hiking!  My friends and I are planning on hiking the Grand Canyon in the Fall so we are trying to get plenty of hikes in.

Upper Palisades Lake

I've never seen the water so high that it covers the island.  This was crazy.

Ryan and I had a free Saturday so I asked if he wanted to hike.  We decided to do Alaska Basin because he had never done it, but it is longer.  Somewhere around 17 or 18 miles.  It is a great hike though.  Ryan never hikes that far, but he handled it fine.  Once we hit the little lake about halfway through the loop he said, "this is fun but I would prefer to be done now." Lol.  I guess 7-8 miles is his ideal distance.  We saw a moose pretty early on.

We had a group of five of us for Table Rock.  Julie was not available but Lisa came.  It had been 90+ degrees every day so we certainly did not think it would be cold.  Well, it was.  It started raining on our way up and it was quite cold at the top!  Kariesa hadn't brought a jacket.  This couple we passed offered her this extra shirt.  Not much but she took it.  Thank you kind strangers!! (Sherri was pretty certain she knew the girl from high school or something but couldn't be sure until she could check social media later).
It's always a bummer when the clouds cover the tetons!!  Good thing we live here so we've seen it before.  It's kind of a trippy experience to see these huge mountains peek out of the clouds at times.  That was what happened on my first ever trip up there.

Adventures with Sadie and Kaden

I have wanted to get my kids out in the mountains with me more.  Kaden and Sadie are buddies and good little adventurers.  We decided to hike a little 4 mile hike I had heard about from friends, grab lunch in Driggs, and then stop at Fall Creek Falls on the way home (after getting ice cream in Swan Valley).  It was a really fun day!  This hike was great for kids.  It's called Mill Creek Trail and it's in on Teton Canyon Rd.  Great views of the Tetons.  Pictures always make it look far away but I promise they are quite close.

I've been to Fall Creek Falls plenty of times but this is the first time we scrambled down to the bottom.  I believe someone rigged this rope (not very well I might add, its holding onto a bush...) recently so now there's a lot of people down at the bottom.  It used to be accessible only by kayak.

We loved it!!  It was so fun.
