We had so much fun at Bear Lake with my brother and his kids
last year that we decided to do it again this year. We met them at Bear Lake on Friday the 24th
of July. It was PACKED.
We brought our pop-up tent, which is seriously the best thing in the hot sun. It is so much cooler under the tent. The kids played while we sat and visited.
We packed up from the lake and headed to Logan. The view of the lake is so breathtaking when coming out of the canyon. I always want to stop and take a picture, but it's not really a good spot to stop. I tried to snap one with my phone, but it doesn't do it justice.
Then
checked into the hotel. We let the kids
swim. Ryan swam with them. I was from dealing with a cranky baby the
whole day and I didn’t think Kaden would want to swim so I didn’t put my suit
back on. After a little while Kaden was
bouncing around on my lap trying to work his way over to Ryan in the
water. I had the bag with some swim
diapers in it so I just put him in a diaper and handed him over to Ryan in the
water. He was a happy baby for about 10
minutes or so!
Hotels are not super fun with so many kids, especially young
like they are. Kylee and Sadie were
trying to share the pull out bed but Sadie wouldn’t leave Kylee alone. So I made her climb in bed with me. Kaden was so, so, so sad while I was trying
to get everyone else showered and ready for bed so that I could put him to
bed. Then he woke up fussing quite a few
times in the night. When I picked him up
around 2 or 3 I changed his diaper and felt that his legs and feet were
freezing (he had kicked off his blanket and apparently the room was a little
chilly) but his head was hot. That was
my first clue that he must be sick. I
knew something was off just by how he was acting. I nursed him and tried to warm him up. He still didn’t want to go back in his crib
so both Ryan and I were rocking him and walking around with him in the middle
of the night. Eventually he fell asleep
peacefully for a few more hours.
We had breakfast in the hotel and then got ready and packed
up to go to Newton. We made it out in
time to watch the parade. Always a fun
time.
The man that used to always lead the parade on his horse passed away so they had his horse with flowers in memory of him. Jaclyn and I used to get rides on his horse when we were little.
There's always a truck spraying water. Sometimes more than one.
After the parade they did a ping pong ball drop from my
cousin’s plane. It was really
crowded! The kids loved it. Sadie was the only one who got a ball.
We got out of the heat for a bit to feed Kaden, have lunch,
and then headed over to Lyndy’s parents to visit with her and let our kids
play. They played in a kiddie pool and
on the trampoline and had fun while I coddled cranky Kaden. He was just cranky or sleeping the whole
weekend. It was sad.
I talked Ryan into staying for the water fun this year. The kids loved it!
I told them to get as foamy as they could and let me take a picture.
And I got one picture of Drew and Ryder.
It was about this time when Kaden’s head was too hot to
ignore. I knew he was sick. We packed up and headed home. He did pretty good, sleeping most of the
drive. Anytime we stopped, he cried and
cried, though. I got him some medicine
as soon as we got home. He fevered like
that for a couple days and then broke out in a rash. The diagnosis- Rosealla.
It was a fun weekend!
I was happy to spend time with my family and Lyndy and I even got to
visit with Karlee a little and Jaclyn a little (luckily I had seen Jaclyn
earlier that week with my friends and talked then).
