This is the first year that Carol had to work on the Saturday of the celebration so we didn't get to see her. She came up later that evening when we had already headed back home. We picked up my dad from Sunshine Terrace and took him out to Newton for the parade and to hang out a little.
But first, Bear Lake. I just love this lake! It's so beautiful and so fun.
The sand was HOT! And I had to take Sadie to those bathrooms back there. Even in my flip-flops I was dying and had to give her a piggy back ride. A little while later a wind gust blew our tubes away and Jeff went chasing after one of them really far away! In barefeet! I couldn't figure out where he had gone, then saw him all the way by the road so I got my car to go pick him up because his feet were dying. Really, the tube wasn't worth it, but I appreciate it anyway.
Then we headed out to grab dinner (we ate at in Bear Lake and everyone got a shake except me since I'm avoiding sweets right now- that was hard!) Poor Kaden got a diaper rash and was not happy. I went to the gas station and picked up some Desitin. Then we headed to the hotel. They upgraded us to their nicest available room since we were using reward points and we've stayed there before. It was nice!
Then we went down to the pool, but the boys took a detour to the gym first.
This is why it's hard to 'swim' with my kids. I supervise, and hang out in the shallow end with Kaden. But they all pull on you and climb on you. And this particular day I did not want to get my hair wet because I didn't have time to do it again.
We made it out with my dad for the parade. But we didn't last a whole lot longer than that, unfortunately. We were hungry and Kaden was tired so we hit the road.
We made a pit stop at the rest stop around Blackfoot. We've never walked the little hiking paths there so we decided to do it. Dylan was not in the best mood and he declared it the "most boring hike of all time". Apparently when you live right by lava rock, it's not that impressive. Lol.
