October 2018

Kylee enjoyed Cross Country!  I plan to put her in track in the Spring and probably Cross Country again next year.
Sandcreek Dragons soccer team.  We are sure hoping that next year goes better than this year.

Dylan's team that I hope he gets to play with for awhile.
And Kaden got to start soccer this year!  Indoor, that is.  He had a lot of fun.  He was one of the most focused for sure.  He is pretty fast as well.  We just need to work on his accuracy.  He could get the ball down to the goal but the net was set up against the wall so the sides came out a foot or so.  The ball would get to the wall and he couldn't get it back up and around the side and in.  He had fun, and that's what matters.  My friend Ashley was his coach and I helped out every game because they had a big team!

I had this barn on my bucket list for Kaden, and since October was fairly warm I tried really hard to make time.  We ended up getting Porter and Jen to come and it was really fun!  It was like, borderline too warm.  I was almost sweating.  It was perfect!  Plus, since we went during school there were hardly any other kids there.  We got to ride the train, which is the main reason I brought him.  I've been years ago with my other kids and they did not have all this fun stuff back then.  We had fun!

I had Kaden take a picture of us on the train, he did pretty good!  We were cheesing a bit though.
Pinewood Derby!  The night Kaden looks forward to all year, lol.  This time Ryan found a friend to cut the wood for us.  Then Dylan sanded it and painted it.  His car performed better this time than last.  I think he took 6th overall, not bad at all.  Sad this is his last one!  Kaden has four more years still.

He had a little mishap with the liquid graphite.  The lid popped off while he was holding it and he spilled most the tube onto the gym floor.  Ugh.  We can laugh now that Ryan got it all cleaned up, though.
Because we never made it to any of the scarier haunted houses at Lagoon, I was determined to take the two older kids to one by us.  We decided on the Haunted Mill but it was a 45 minute drive north.  And it was really close to Halloween so I figured it would be really crowded as well.  We got there almost an hour before it opened and we were the first ones there, lol.  So we still had to wait since we were there so early, but at least we got home at 9 because we were the first ones in line.

It was awesome!!  Highly recommend!  But not if you are grossed out by old carpet or claustrophobic with small tunnels.  But really, it had a little of everything.  Creaky staircases, creepy guys with power tools, outdoor corn maze path, bridges over water (where you would not expect something to jump out, but you would be wrong!)  Plus clowns and dolls, etc, etc.  It was the most fun I've had in awhile.

I knew my kids would eat it up, but I wasn't sure if their friends would.  They were brave enough to come along, but they were a bit nervous.  Averi and I kind of egged each other on I think.  Nothing really phased Kylee.  She's such a practical child.  I think the only thing that startled her was the guy in the porta-potty, lol.  At one point Mitchell said, "yeah, I'm definitely sleeping with my parents tonight."  And Averi says, "me too!"  I was laughing so hard.  Next year we will have to find a babysitter for the younger two and bring Ryan along.  He was sad he missed it.

Seriously, how perfect is this venue?

I got them some nachos and they ate them around the fire afterwards.

And everything else I took pictures of this month...  Sadie and her friends come up with the cutest creations.  This one was large and decorated our entryway for awhile.
The Hay Statues are Halloween Minions this year!  I love this guy's creativity.  Jen and I passed them on one of our runs.
Kaden was gifted some train tracks.  He's so content with fun toys!
We found the biggest carrot in my garden.  The picture doesn't even do it justice.
Enjoying the last biking days of the year.  I ran into a road block of sheep, so I had to change my route.  Only on these country roads...

And maybe the best thing that happened in October is that Sadie got her braces off and expander out!  I was so happy they were able to take them off before her baptism.  It was still a little close for my comfort because I wanted to do pictures for her invitations and I was hoping to have them off.  But they were staying on until the 30th and the weather was quickly getting worse and worse.  Then Sadie got sick the day they came off.  She just had a bit of a fever so I gave her ibuprofen and took her to get her braces off anyway!  I told her I didn't want to reschedule.  But she did miss school.  And she was still pretty sick by that evening so my original plan to take pictures that day didn't work out.  The next day was Halloween, so on November 1st, I took her out in her sleeveless dress and took pictures.  She was a champ and they turned out perfect!!  (I'll post those in her baptism post)

The orthodontist office was all dressed up for Halloween.  Most (maybe all) of them were characters from Harry Potter, which Sadie is reading right now so that was really fun.  I wish I had taken more pictures of them.  Some of them were dead ringers!  Rita Skeeter, Dolores Umbridge, Snape, lol.  This assistant was Sirius Black but he had to take his wig off to work.  McCord, who has a shaved head, was Voldemort and it was awesome.

It feels so good to be free of all the mouth metal!!  Or so she says.  But it's "weird".
Look how much her face changed in the year!  It's sad!

And lastly, Kaden and Sadie played with all the leftover glow sticks from our Halloween basket.  This year I kept is simple and just did slime (goo, noise putty, whatever you want to call it) and glow sticks.
