I get together with my friends every summer for at least dinner. In the past we have met during the day and brought kids. There was one year we did an overnight in Park City and that was really fun. We decided we needed to make time to do something more than just dinner again. We agreed on a date and met in Bear Lake to stay in Amy's beautiful cabin.
We got in fairly late and stayed up talking far longer than I have stayed up in the past 10 years. But we didn't have any rush to get up so why not. In the morning we decided to go to this little breakfast joint Ruca's for some Aebelskivers (Danish pancake ball). Marci and I went for a run and Amy tried to drive the rest of them in the golf cart but was told by a policeman that it is not street legal, lol. So they parked it and walked the rest of the way. It was about 3 miles total, and they probably didn't even get a mile before they had to get out. Marci and I ran to the restaurant, then back to meet the rest of them and walked the rest of the way with them. Breakfast was good! We all got different flavors and tried each other's.
We chatted as we walked back (and I ended up with a bit of a sunburn, go figure). Then we got ready to go to the water! Amy's view is pretty fantastic.
We lounged around on paddle boards and chatted. It was too rough to leave this little cove on the board.
After a little while we were able to go out on the boat. It was too choppy to do anything but tube, but we had fun!
Jaclyn had originally said Park City or Salt Lake. I offered Jackson Hole but nobody wanted that, haha. Someone mentioned Bear Lake and I thought that sounded better. It's closer for me, by a little at least. And there's water to play in which is nice because it is hot in July! When Amy offered up her cabin, I was really excited because I knew we would have a great place to stay and play in the water. When we were there, Jaclyn let us know that she wasn't all that excited about Bear Lake. She only pictures building sand castles with her kids. I told her I was excited to hang out on paddle boards. None of us were really wanting to jet ski or anything, but I still thought it would be fun to lounge by or in the water. She said she was just happy to be with us. But by the end of the trip, she said, "okay, I'll eat my words. This was fun. I think we should do it every year." I agree! It was wonderful.
And Amy's cabin is gorgeous!
