October 2020

We have heard about the "waterfall past Upper Palisades Lake" for years. It's so long though!  Sherri and I were trained for a marathon so about 10 days after the marathon, we went for it.  We were planning on the waterfall being 10-11 miles away.  I think we maybe didn't quite get there, but we thought it must be dried up or something.  It didn't seem like we were anywhere near a waterfall.  If you remember, Sherri and I both got sick before the marathon, and afterwards we both got a little sicker in the chest.  Sherri seemed to be a little worse off than I was.  She was not wanting to go any further.  And on the way back, she was coughing a lot and seemed really tired.  So I'm not sad that we didn't go any further.  But we plan to do it the right way soon.  The Fall colors were pretty awesome on the trail though!

Kylee went to a haunted house with her friends this year.  Can you believe she ditched me?

Sadie's soccer team had a party at her teammate's house (Sharae).  They have a fun backyard and let Kaden and Kylee play a little while they played a wild game of Mafia.

Kaden perched on the table doing his work, lol.

The Alphin's invited us to ride their horses and Sadie was really excited about it!  Kylee not as much.  I'm just so-so about horses.  Sadie is in love.  Kaden had fun too.

We thought Peanut was locked in his pen, but I got a call from a friend who lives in the horseshoe (way down the road and across the main road in our neighborhood, plus about 5 more houses down.)  Camille asked if we were missing a bunny, but I didn't even know he was missing, haha.  But we headed over there to pick him up.  Unfortunately he is mean when we pick him up.  My arm got super scratched up.  At least this time wasn't as bad as last time when he was at a neighbor's house and he left a scar across my wrist like I attempted suicide or something.

Speaking of the bunny, he terrorizes the cat!  He chases Jax around and runs circles around him.  Jax is getting older and wants to just chill, but the bunny won't leave him alone.  He ends up climbing to higher ground to get away from him.

We went to this pumpkin patch / corn maze as a fundraiser for Woodland Hills PTO.  I was in charge of organizing the community night fundraisers this year so I set it up and had to stand at the entrance to help remind people to tell them they were from Woodland Hills.  But I got to spend a few minutes with the kids.  Mostly they went and played while I "worked".

Jen and I did a couple more trails to help her finish off her Lost Souls challenge.  I only accompanied her on a few of them, she was a beast and did like 20 miles the day before by herself.  She was trying to get them all done.

It's so hard to say goodbye to summer and trails and sunshine!  I held on for as long as I could.
