Both girls' teams decided to play in soccer tournaments in St. George over President's Day Weekend. We really love/hate this trip. It's fantastic to get out of the snow into the sunshine, of course playing soccer is what makes them happy, and St George is a beautiful place. But this weekend is insane there and people are idiot drivers. And this year Sadie had a bunch of games in Hurricane which made it hard and I had to miss a little of each of their games at times. In the past the drive home has been a nightmare, not to mention treacherous. There's often snow just an hour or two up the road, and the other million people are also trying to leave. Kylee and I got home at 3am the year before. So this year we decided to just book the hotel for Monday night and relax and drive home on Tuesday.
The drive is beautiful!
Kylee had her first game that night and it was chilly! Sadie says she's a polar bear because she doesn't get cold. I had lots of layers on.There was a running path by our hotel that I ran on lots. The views are so cool with the red rock against the snowy mountains, but it's hard to capture in pictures. I sure tried though, lol (see further down).
Sadie had some crappy fields in Hurricane. She was in the Icebreaker tournament instead of Rage (Kylee has only done Rage, Icebreaker is cheaper I guess, but I swear they have the crappy fields every time. I've heard people say they use the same fields but I don't buy it.)Winners get ice cream, lol. I tried a "dole whip" but it wasn't good at all and I threw it away.
No games on Sunday so I went and ran in Snow Canyon while listening to church music and our Sacrament Meeting streaming.
I didn't know what petrified sand dunes would look like, but it was much cooler than I thought it would be!The weather was perfect for a little hot tubbing, but polar bear Sadie says it was too hot.
Kylee's team had a little bbq get-together.
It's hard to see from pictures but the white temple against the red rock against the white mountain was so awesome!
Both Kylee and Sadie won their tournaments. Then we had the rest of the day to just chill (I went for another run) and the hotel had "snack time" that evening we got to enjoy. Then we took off first thing in the morning for home.
