Northern California and Redwoods

Crescent City is a small little town.  We found a place for Kaden to get a burger and then we went looking for cool rocks at the beach.  Our hotel was next to this lighthouse that was only accessible during low tide, which was pretty cool.

I was excited to see Redwood National Park but we were told there was a cool Redwood area just outside of Crescent so we went there first.  It ended up being just as good or better than what we saw further south in the park.  It's called Jedidiah Smith Redwood State Park.  Redwoods are crazy because we are just driving along and then out of nowhere the trees grow 10 times the size of normal trees and it feels like we have shrunk down to smurf size.  I love them!

Then we hit the road for a few fun stops.  First to see Giant Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox at Trees of Mystery.  Then to drive through a a redwood tree in my car.  There are a few trees like this in California and this one isn't as cool as the others but we weren't headed far enough south to see the others so this one had to do.

Redwood National and State Parks
The trail we did in Jedidiah Smith's park was like 3 miles and the kids were not thrilled to do too many more miles.  But we did some hiking and some driving and I thoroughly enjoyed both!

One more night in Crescent City and we made the courageous decision to drive all 14 hours (give or take) back home in one day.  I got up and went for a run first because that's the only way I can survive long road trips.  And I snapped this pic of Pebble Beach, Crescent City  We did stop for In n Out at the new location in Boise where we had to wait in line for quite awhile so I got out of the car with the kids and walked around to stretch our legs.  It was a pretty epic trip!!
