Florida 8/2015- Grandma's Pool

One of the best parts of the trip was swimming at Grandma’s pool.  Ryan kept asking me why we had to go to Florida in August, when it was SUPER hot and humid, and rainy season also.  I told him I wanted to be able to use her pool and not freeze!  What’s the point of visiting Florida if you go in the winter and it’s too cold to swim.  There’s a pool and a beach and I wanted to use them both!

The kids got a LOT of use out of the pool!  Especially Kylee, my little fish.  Sadie had fun swimming too.  She did surprisingly well with little floaters on her arms.  We still had someone out there watching them at all times, but there were no close-calls, not even any crying because she was scared or went under too much.  My kids are water-babies and are all pretty comfortable in the water. (Especially when she's playing in Kaden's inner-tube, which eventually popped because she's too big for it.)

Earlier that summer at Ross Park I had a power-struggle with Kylee about her plugging her nose when she swims.  She got really upset, but I don’t want her to be crippled by the need to plug your nose, or be a big wuss about it either.  Rachel was swimming without plugging her nose.  So was Dylan.  And Kylee has done swim team so many times, I can’t believe that she has gotten into the habit of plugging her nose.  So she was trying to not plug her nose at my mom’s house.  And she was working on diving.  She is a quick learner and can do most things really well if she tries hard enough.  She did great.

Dylan was more in and out of the pool.  Sometimes he got too much water, or started a water fight and then got upset, or something along those lines.  So Grandma spoiled him by letting him play her ipad.

But he also had fun attempting dives that ended up as either flops or somersaults in the water.  But he tried.  I love that he’s fearless.

Kaden liked the pool okay, he was pretty good if someone was holding him, but didn’t last too long in his little floater.  He sure was cute, though!

The kids LOVED swimming with Kaden and all fought for his attention.  And mine.  And any other adult that got in the pool.  It’s always more fun swimming with someone to play around with.

My mom did swim, but she shouldn’t have.  She had a spot surgically removed from her leg and had it bandaged and was supposed to keep it dry.  But she tried to cover it well and got in the pool anyway.  Then she got in trouble later by her Dr because it wasn’t healing as well as it should.  Whoops!
