The Rest of Florida 8/2015

Tom cooked a lot of great meals for us!  The kids loved all he made.  Especially the crab rangoons.  And the banana cake.  Funny story...  Tom made this banana cake and was planning on doing chicken wings and fried shrimp and my mom and I wanted to do some veggies too.  So my mom turned on the oven.  Well, Tom had put the cake in the oven to keep it out of the way and away from bug (there are tiny little ants in the house that are near impossible to get rid of). And so it got cooked a little more.  It probably would've been okay but the frosting got crisped up.  The family still ate it.  I would've eaten it if I weren't allergic to bananas.

Anyway, we enjoyed lots of really great food.  But one night we went out for sushi  :)

Kylee wanted a sushi roll.  She has began to explore foods more, things she might've not liked a few years ago she is giving another chance.  She now likes pickles, smoked salmon, sushi...  She really wanted to order a roll so I said whatever and she liked it a lot!  Now she wants to go to sushi with me more often.  I think that's great, but Ryan thinks it's too expensive to have another sushi-lover in the family  :)

This restaurant was fun.  They know my mom and Tom pretty well.  I order two rolls because Ryan and I were going to share three and he ordered one so I ordered the other two.  They brought them to me on this big boat!

Dylan and Sadie shared shrimp fried rice.  And they fought over all the orange slices that came on our plates as garnish.  I think it's funny that all my kids prefer shrimp!  I don't think I ate much shrimp growing up.  Though I do remember when I started liking fish.  I usually only got tuna though.

Another thing we tried to do was a dolphin tour.  We showed up at the pier for our boat, but it never came.

Turns out there was a miscommunication.  Or someone along the way didn't know what was going on.  But we missed the boat.  We were okay just heading to the beach instead.  But it would've been really neat to see a bunch of dolphins playing in the water!

All in all we had a really great trip!!  Kylee asked if we could go back to the beach for her birthday...  Too bad it's so expensive to get our family all the way over there.  It sure is fun, though!

Running in Florida makes you sweaty!!
