He says mama and dada, but otherwise just mostly grunts or
babbles. But he has a really
high-pitched scream. It’s not our
favorite. And he does it too often. He’s often very laid back and smiley. But sometimes he will start screeching and we
have to plug him up with the pacifier.
Then he’s pretty good. Even with
the screeching, he’s still a really chill baby.
He loves his blanket and pacifier. He’s at that sweet stage where if he’s tired
and you give him his pacifier and blanket, he will lean towards his crib
because he just wants to sleep. He fell
asleep on the floor the other night when Ryan and I were at the movie and my
mom was babysitting. I usually nurse him
to sleep, but he was tired so he just rolled around on the floor with his
blanket and fell asleep. Until I got
home and fed him and put him in his crib.
Things are feeling a little easier knowing that other people can put him
to sleep and he won’t freak out.
On his birthday, he was walking short distances but wasn’t
willingly walking too often. Mostly just
when we encouraged him. Now that it’s a
week later, he’s walking a lot more. He
wanders off on his own toddling down the hall.
He’s more confident now and does pretty well, though that big head of
his does pull him off-balance sometimes!
But he is great at the stairs! He
hasn’t fallen once. He almost fell,
tumbled down about two stairs and I was above him jumping down ready to grab
him so he didn’t tumble all the way, but he righted himself. It’s like he knew how to get his feet down to
stop himself. It’s really crazy to me
how well he has done with them. He
follows people downstairs often. And
when he gets bored he climbs back up to come see me.
He’s a big eater! He
eats more of our dinner than Sadie does.
Enchiladas, steak, rice dishes, you name it. Of course the last day or two he hasn’t been
eating everything, mostly spitting out everything. I guess he goes through spurts just like the
rest of us. But he does love food for
sure. He isn’t too big into crackers or
cereal for snacks, which is too bad because what else are you supposed to use
to keep him happy on the go? He plays
with his crackers and pulls them all out of his cup and makes a mess, but doesn’t
eat much of them. He does love veggie
straws, cheese puffs, and popcorn though!
I noticed the other day that he has molars, one on each side on the top, coming through. He already had eight front teeth. No wonder he's such a big eater!
He loves mom and dad.
He is weary of being left with a babysitter since we’ve done it twice
now. It took him days to warm up to my
mom. He was very anxious for the first
couple of days. He’s very friendly
towards others when I am holding him, and will even occasionally let a stranger
hold him, but only for a second and then he’s lunging back to me. Hopefully he will get over the babysitter
fear soon. I’m not sure how long our
babysitter will want to deal with him being so fussy for her! It’s a lot for a 15 year-old to handle.
