School Pictures and PTC

Parent Teacher Conferences are always nice (and a bit boring) with my kids.  So far at least.

Kylee
All three of Kylee's teachers just said she is great and didn't really have anything else to say.  One of them expanded saying how well she understands everything and is obedient.  She's an ideal student, basically.  This I know.  She's an angel.  A really smart angel.  That works hard.

Dylan -
I get to chat with Dylan's teacher often because I go in for Math every Tuesday and his teacher is always telling me if Dylan is not quite grasping a concept (it's always math).  I always internally shake my head a little because Mr Petersen acts like it's a really big concern but I work with every student in the class and I know that Dylan is never in the lower half.  He may be in the middle sometimes instead of the top, but he's never behind.  The teacher just holds him to a higher standard I guess, maybe because he's a GATE student, or maybe because he just knows he does well most of the time.  (Dylan does not like math much so he doesn't spend a lot of time.  He's usually in a hurry, only pays attention to as much as he thinks is necessary, and doesn't remember all the steps later on because he doesn't like to work a lot of problems to practice.)  At PTC all his teacher told me is that he sees the back of Dylan's head a lot.  Ha ha.  I told him maybe he should move him to the back row (of course this is a problem because Dylan is also quite blind...)  but I was joking.  I know he's a social kid.  But he's doing well academically.

Sadie -

I like seeing these papers!  The way Sadie graded herself was really cute.  She didn't give herself perfects on everything, but her teacher did :)

Sadie's doing great in school.  I knew this.  Her teacher told me she was great for everything.  But the best thing her teacher told me was that she is a good friend.  She told me that there was a new girl in class this year who was having a rough time and was crying a little.  Mrs Johansson pulled Sadie aside and asked her if she could invite her to play with Sadie and her friends at recess.  Sadie said she would, and they have been playing together ever since.  In fact, she's one of Sadie's best friends, plays on her basketball team, and came to her birthday party.  Her teacher said she knew she could count on Sadie because she is so nice and friendly.  Awesome.  I must be doing something right.

A couple other pictures of her this year.
