For the last few years, we have met my brother and his family at Bear Lake the day before the Pioneer Day celebration in Utah. It's always really hot, incredibly crowded, and Ryan is not a big fan. So this year we decided to try Bloomington Lake instead. Ryan has been there with the boy scouts a few years before. It wasn't as comfortable as sitting on a regular beach- Sadie was wishing she had a chair or something to lay on. She settled on a rock, but it wasn't ideal. I thought it was really fun! The only downfall is the long drive on a bumpy dirt road (narrow, oncoming traffic is difficult) and there's a hike to get to the lake. The hike is less than a mile and not hard. But we carried in two kayaks along with a bag with towels. I chose not to carry in a cooler of food, which was a mistake I suppose because my kids got quite whiny. But all in all, it was BEAUTIFUL and fun. Carol came and met us after she got off work so we could talk for a bit.
This was Kylee going off the rope swing ^^ Her and Dylan both went. Ryan and I did also, but Sadie chose not to.
Peeing in nature is easy for boys.
And some evidence that I went off the swing too. It was really fun! I would've gone a few times if it wasn't so crowded there.
After the lake, we drove to our regular dinner place in Bear Lake. Shakes are a must.
We stayed in our regular hotel in Logan and went to Newton for the parade. The kids love the small town parade. We hung out for a bit afterwards, but we were all ready to head home instead of hanging out in the heat any longer. It's not really the same without my Dad there. We don't even know most the people that live in Newton anymore. But it's a fun tradition.
