Drive by Hoover Dam- Spring Break 2021 AZ

For Spring Break we decided to drive to Arizona.  We rented an Airbnb house that was close to Ryan's parents.  We intended to see them a little, but with Covid we didn't want to stay with them.  The house had a pool and we were really excited about that.

We drove through Utah and enjoyed the snow covered mountains!

We drove past St George and the kids were still all doing really well in the car so we headed to Hoover Dam.  Dylan kept calling it the Hoover Dang, which had us all laughing.  We didn't stay long, there wasn't much to see or do with it being late in the day plus Covid (I don't remember if there were any tours running or not, but I'm guessing not).

This huge bridge next to the dam was really cool!  It's what we drove over to continue towards Arizona.

This large goat was right next to the road when we were leaving!

The rest of the way to the Phoenix area is pretty desolate.  Kingman seemed to be our only option for a hotel, but our kids were still being great and we thought we should just drive the whole way!  We couldn't get into our house that night but Grandma and Grandpa didn't mind us staying one night there.  We would've gotten there about 10pm, which is not very late at all.  But... As we were getting closer to Kingman, Sadie started saying she didn't feel well.  She had a bit of a runny nose, and she was just looking worse and worse.  That's when we realized we were not going to be able to stay with Grandparents if Sadie had any sort of illness.  So we pulled off at Kingman and found a hotel.  When we got out, I felt Sadie's forehead and she felt feverish.  She went to bed pretty early.  But the next day she was feeling pretty good and just had a little sniffle.  I was bummed because I wanted to brag about how awesome our kids are at traveling that we could drive all 15 hours in one day!  Well, it ended up being about 11 hours.

We drove through Wickenburg, which I remembered because my old Stepdad's parents lived there.  My mom told me that my old Stepdad, Glen, had moved there with his parents to help take care of them as they aged.  We didn't stop though, lol.
