The next day I got up and went for a run. Then we got packed up and said bye to Sara
and her fam. We headed south to Monterey
Bay. It was sunny and fairly early so we
decided to stop at a beach. We first
stopped at Target to grab a buck and some shovels. But we didn’t have any towels. Kylee and Dylan didn’t care that it was only
like 60 degrees, they wanted their swimsuits on. And they played in the waves and had fun.
Kaden enjoyed digging in the sand. And he yelled at Kylee saying, “water get
you! I ‘tect you!” His version of protect you. Then he went off exploring with Ryan. Sadie had fun finding shells (once she
stopped shivering after putting on two jackets). But Sadie got sick of sand and decided she
didn’t like the beach anymore. I was
surprised they didn’t have a little shower for us at the parking lot like most
public beaches. Monterey seems like a
pretty popular place. But nope.
We had planned on going to the Aquarium that day and leaving
to drive south in the morning. But we
found out the Aquarium closed at 5, and we were at the beach until like
3:30. We got to the aquarium at 3:50 or
so and they offered us a small discount on tickets for the last hour. Or we could pay full price for tickets that
night, and also use them again the next day.
We that’s what we did. We waited
until 4 and paid full price. Then we
only had an hour to look around. But we
planned to come back. It was a really
fun aquarium!
The stingrays were a hit!
All the touching pools were a hit.
I loved the big stuff, the hammerhead shark, the sea
turtles. The jellyfish were really
cool. But I loved the octopus!! It was all really cool. These pictures are from both days.
After the aquarium we headed back to the hotel, which had a pool! The Base hotel we stayed at for three nights
did not have a pool. But it had a
kitchen area so that was nice.
The kids went swimming while I ordered some sushi and went
to pick it up for us. Kids got
Subway. Except Kylee ate some of our
sushi.
