Monday we headed up to San Francisco to see the bridge and
thought about going to Golden Gate Park.
It was raining, so that put a damper on things. And I just hate crowds. And parking far away and walking forever with
kids. When it’s just adults it is not a
big deal. But kids get tired and super
cranky.
We parked down below the bridge and walked up to it, then
along it maybe 1/3 of the way. It was a
bit chilly. Sadie wasn’t in the best
mood. We showed the kids Alcatraz, and
we went down to the Fort below but it was closed.
There was a car right by ours that had their window busted
out and some things stolen. We got
lucky!! Sara and I had both left our
purses in the car. Nobody wants to carry
their purse around the bridge, and the thieves obviously knew that. But we hid ours so I guess we got lucky. How annoying would that be on vacation?! In the rain!
With a broken window. Ryan had to
drive home from Salt Lake with a broken window when someone did that to him at
a Jazz game in the winter. Not
cool.
We drove over to Golden Gate Park but it was still raining
and there were cars everywhere and none of the kids wanted to get out to walk
anymore. So we just scratched that plan
and decided to try and find a Rubio’s because Kylee was begging for it. We found one on Google Maps and followed the
directions through the city stopping every few yards for a light. It took for-ev-er. Kaden and Jason both fell asleep in the process. And when we got to it, it was on a corner of
a busy shopping center with nowhere to park.
We could see it, but we couldn’t get to it with the traffic and parking
situation. None of us were really that
hungry anyway because we had some snacks.
So we just got back on the freeway and headed out of there. We found a Rubio’s a few cities south and
stopped there. The kids were happy. The parking was fine, though metered. I totally appreciate my city so much more
after traveling through California for a week.
When we got back to Mountain View, Sara and I took all the
older kids to Beauty and the Beast. Ryan
stayed back with the two 2-year-olds. The
movie theater had big recliner chairs and it was really nice. Plus, I loved the movie. It has always been one of my favorites from
childhood. And I adore Emma Watson. I loved it.
Sadie had a bad attitude. She had
been cranky all day, but she still cuddled with me and even put up with my
singing for most of it.
