Sunday we all got up and got our church clothes back
on. We attended the earlier ward in the
building where Sara goes, but not her ward.
I was impressed they had gluten free options on their sacrament trays
like our ward! Lol. After, we changed and drove down to Santa Cruz to explore
Natural Bridges Beach and Henry Cowell Redwood Forest.
The kids love the beach.
Even without swimming suits (though they wished we had worn them, even
with the cold wind). They had fun
searching for shells while dodging the waves.
And exploring on the rocks. It
was really pretty.
Kaden was so concerned about the waves. He was watching the other kids run away from
them saying, “water get us.” I told him “I’ll
protect you.” So he started saying that
too. He’s so cute.
We went to this Redwood Forest just because it was
close. Also, we got in for free since we
had already paid for a state park at Natural Bridges. Bonus!
We did the short nature walk, might’ve been two miles. It was cool.
Redwoods are just cool.
They’ve gotten a lot of rain this year, so the trees are
falling more. There was one that had
fallen recently and smashed right across the path. I should’ve taken a picture, since it was
probably my favorite part. It smashed
through the fence. And they sawed a
chunk out of it so we could still use the path.
It is dark red and fuzzy inside.
The other cool part was the cross-section of a really old
tree. They counted the rings and got all
the way back over 2000 to before Christ was born. That’s how old the tree is! Crazy cool.
