May 2017

These two cuties enjoy the zoo a lot!  The older two don't love it as much so they get left home.

I love the video monitor!  He's so cute in there!  And it cracks me up how he plays in there for a long while sometimes.

I love that Dylan reads often, (even if he would rather read than watch basketball).  I love that he reads, and I love that he aces the tests as well.  He rocked his reading goal.  He didn't do as well with his math goal, barely made that one, not because it's hard, just because he doesn't want to.
I love fresh garden soil!!  Earth-therapy.
Kylee had a lot of fun at her DARE graduation.

I took the kids to the dentist.  This was Kaden's first visit.  He LOVED the dentist's office, because of the train set.  He didn't love the people putting things in his mouth.  But he begged to go back to see the trains! No cavities for any of my kids.  Yay!

Ryan taught Dylan how to mow the lawn this year.  He is quicker than Kylee, but not as precise.  But he's learning.  This day, we had told Dylan the lawn needed to be mowed after school.  I heard the lawn mower going before I heard anyone come in the house.  When I looked in the yard, I saw Dylan's backpack dropped on the patio so he could hurry and get the lawn mower out.  He is so funny that way.  When work needs to be done, he likes to quickly do it so he can move on to the things he wants to do.  Let's just say the girls do not have the same attitude about work.

Kylee sang in Sacrament Meeting in April.  We received this letter from our Stake President a week later.  It was so nice of him to write to her.  She received a couple other cards from ladies in our ward.  I love how thoughtful people can be.
Volleyball pictures from my phone that didn't make it to the last post about Sports.  This is Kylee and her friend Anna that she carpooled with.  She lives around the corner from us.
And here is her team :)
It was our 14th wedding anniversary in May.  I found these old pictures and posted them on Insta and FB.

This was my mother's day photo this year.  Sure love these kiddos!
And they gave me all sorts of cards and pictures.

Kaden loves to "fix" things.  He knows where we keep the screwdriver and goes to get it every time he sees a screw.  Luckily he can't actually unscrew anything yet.  It's funny to me how this is just ingrained in some kids.  He's so BOY.
Kylee was Susan B Anthony at the 5th grade Wax Museum.  I thought we did a pretty good job on her costume.

I thought this was comical, how full my fridge gets sometimes when I get a lot of fresh produce.  I'm really bad at planning for more than a week, and often I don't even make it that far before I have to stop at the store again to grab something else.
Kylee, Dylan and I did an Inflatable 5K race.  It was really fun!  It was not a 5K, it was just over 2 miles.  Dylan started out way too fast, trying to prove something to me I think.  But also wanting to be first.  At one point the course was confusing and we were told we were heading the wrong way.  So I called Dylan back.  He was mad.  Then everyone decided we were headed the right way anyway.  So as soon as he got a sideache, he got mad at me for making him come back.  And then he walked the rest of the way.  Very slowly, to prove a point.  And angrily.  But we did have fun on the inflatables.  Kylee and I went on some of them multiple times while waiting for Dylan to catch up.  At the end we got to play on some of the other ones for a little bit too.  Dylan was happier then.

After the inflatable race, I had to go on a long bike ride with Kehau.  We were training for a Century Ride and planned on getting 60+ miles in.  But I got a flat!  Not a huge deal, but neither of us had ever changed a flat before.  I had all the stuff I needed, and this kid was outside at the house we stopped by and he knew a lot about bikes so he helped us.  And this lady also stopped and let us use her hand pump because we couldn't figure out my CO2 cartridges.  Anyway, it took us a good 45 minutes but we finally got it taken care of.  Since I was pressed for time, we only got 50 miles in that day.

Immediately following the bike ride, I had to get cleaned up fast to take Kylee to her piano recital.  She did great.  She enjoys piano, even if she grumbles when I tell her to practice.  Vicki Dutson was her teacher this year and she does a fantastic job.

Kaden is a bit obsessed with diggers.  This big backhoe was parked at the back of my neighborhood and we saw it while we were on a walk.  So we stopped for a couple pictures.  Kaden was pretty happy.

I got to chaperone the Kindergarten field trip.  I let Kaden with my mother in law so it was pretty easy!

 Kindergarteners are so cute!

Dylan has had his eyes on this raffle prize for a long time!  It's a golden snitch watch necklace.  He gets extra raffle tickets for getting his goal in reading.  But this watch was in the bigger prize box which meant he needed to be drawn twice (that's what he said the first time) or that he needed his math goal met as well (which didn't happen until the last minute at the end of the year).  His teacher gave it to him at the end of the year after he made his math goal because he had like tripled his reading goal.  He was so happy!
Dylan has loved Harry Potter this year, ever since his teacher read the first book to their class.  He finished the rest of the series on his own and took all the tests.  He committed to using Harry Potter references on all his spelling worksheets for the rest of the year, lol.  I thought he did quite a good job!

No formal pictures for the soccer team this year, but this was after their last game of the season.
Memorial Day we wanted to go in the mountains for a hike.  We invited our neighbors the Summers.  They had never been to Mesa Falls so we took them there.  It's a short, easy hike (nature walk).  And it was beautiful.  We had fun in the lodge with all the animal skins and skulls and such.  We even hiked down the canoe-loading path to the water like we did years ago with the kids.
