I love the fresh fish and fruit in Hawaii!! The food is all so yummy. At least we've had good luck so far (thank you Yelp). Coconut's Fish Cafe was really yummy and they had locations on both islands. Fish tacos first, the second time I was bored of tortillas / tacos (gasp!) so they gave me a taco salad which was all the same stuff minus the tortillas on lettuce instead. Yum!
This was Tiki Tacos, we ate here a couple times. Fish tacos and Kalua Pork tacos, mmmmm.
Another thing I love is how every restaurant has outdoor seating, and some ONLY have outdoor seating. By that I mean the whole restaurant has no walls or windows, just a roof. Like this one- we ate here last time and loved the atmosphere and the food was good too. Duke's.
Hard to beat that view while eating! And the fish is always delicious. All the restaurants have a fish-of-the-day, which I guess is whatever their fishermen caught the day before. I hadn't heard of most of the fish. But I was willing to try!
Hula Pie is pretty yummy, but I'm not sure I see the hype. We didn't turn it down, though.
It's hard to go wrong with sushi. This was the fastest sushi we have ever had. We were there for like 15 minutes, it was awesome. And yummy.
This was our breakfast at Anuenue. Kalua Pork for the win. And macademia French toast with coconut pudding.Smoothie bowls!! Here's the thing. I can totally make these at home. I have before. But they take like 30 minutes to put together with so many different ingredients. Plus, it always tastes better when someone else makes it for you.
You can't go to Hawaii without their famous shaved ice, right? These were the smaller size, lol.
Fish fajitas? With a view of the palm trees and mountains? Yes please!
Surf and turf for Ryan. The "turf" was pork. I'm telling you, we only ate fish and pork. Ryan had ribs at Duke's. And fried shrimp a few times from his Shrimp Station next door to us.
As we were getting ready to head for the airport, all I wanted for dinner was another smoothie bowl. BUT apparently all the smoothie places close at 5 or before. We just missed them. We literally drove/walked to four places. The last place was still open and serving them but their freezer was broken so they weren't allowed to serve the fruit from it. Grrrr. I almost cried. Like, it hurt to hold back the tears. Not only was I leaving my favorite place on Earth but I couldn't get one last smoothie bowl. So I settled for a salad and got a piece of tuna to put on it. It was actually really yummy and satisfying.
By the time we landed in Utah I was starving again (after flying all night with a layover in Seattle) and Ryan stopped at Jamba Juice for me so I could get a smoothie bowl, lololol. It wasn't quite the same, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
