Kaden's 5th Birthday

Kaden was excited about his birthday!  All he wanted was a party with Jason.  And a hulk cake.  We were looking through Pinterest and came across this one with candy and he was sold.  I bought the hulk figurine early on and he loved to play with it.  But ever since we lost the hulk mask in the mess downstairs (we found it once we were putting things back together) I was nervous this would get lost before his birthday so we had to keep it in a special place.  He chose skittles for the cake instead of m&m's, which some people thought was a strange choice but whatever makes him happy.

We invited all the cousins over to celebrate with us on Sunday, the day before his birthday.  And I let him open a little present (the gems he's holding ^^^.  The kid loves shiny things, and colorful rocks too.)  We played games and had cake and ice cream.
They managed to finish the carpet in between Sadie and Kaden's birthdays.  So happy to have it done!!!  Any bets on how long it will stay nice until the first stain happens?  We've had a few near misses with bodily fluids already.
He took cupcakes to school on his birthday!

Kaden has a special spirit about him.  I can't count the number of adults in our ward who go out of their way to high-five him or say hi, and then tell me, "I just love him."  He wins over all his teachers and leaders and whoever else is around.  He's dang smart too!  He's a numbers guy.  It will be fun to see if he excels in math in the long run.  Right now he talks about vigintillion (63 zeros, if you don't know) and likes to look at prices when we are shopping.  When we were Christmas shopping at Target, we were using the self checkout and he was watching as the total rose with every item.  He would say each new total.  Then at the end, he was shocked that we spent $279.  He continued to tell the rest of the family for the next few days about how Mom spent $279 at Target!  He likes to tell me how many suckers he can buy with his dollars (50 cent suckers from Maverik, so 10 suckers with his $5).  And he likes to check the time, especially when we are cuddling close to bedtime.  I suppose I need to start teaching him more, but I don't really know where we go from here, other than adding and what not.  Anyway, he's very sweet.  He says, "thank you for the dinner" almost every night.  He likes to cuddle before bed every night and get a Monkey Hug into his room.  Then he says, "good night, see you in the morning." And if you don't respond, he yells it louder through the door.  He still falls asleep for a nap about half the time.  Not on purpose, but sometimes he just disappears into his room.  Or he will lay in my bed with me and fall asleep when I'm reading or on the computer.  I'm going to be sad when he gets bigger, but I think he will stay sweet always.
