A short drive past the waterfall is Portland. It's a big city, and not the prettiest from the freeway. We followed Google Maps up and around all these little streets and turns and ended up at the International Rose Test Garden which was right in this big green park area with a Japanese Garden next to it and trails and a playground. It was really pretty and fun to walk around. There are 650 varieties of roses, and thousands of other plants. The thing about Oregon (and I guess any humid, wet climate) is there is so much LIFE. Plant life, animal life. And SEA life! (I'll get to that)
Can you see the girls in this pic?
Sadie wanted pictures many, many roses. We had her leave her phone in the car so she kept asking me to take pictures that I could send to her.
A little art in the middle of the roses.
The kids got a kick out of this little squirrel.
We hung out for a bit but we had to pay to park and the kids were anxious to get to the resort. I'm not sure why, I think they were just excited to see it because it sounded really cool to them. We had wanted to stop at the Pittock mansion, which I thought Dylan would really like because he always talks about crazy ways people spend their money and what not. But the kids just wanted to finish the drive and check in.
