We left the mountains and headed to the beach. This was the last time we had to drive on these horrible roads, though we didn't know it. The highway goes all down the coast.
We stopped at a random seafood restaurant on the side of the road. And it was so HOT, haha. It's definitely warmer down out of the mountains. There was a nice view of the ocean out the front door too.
We passed sooooo many groves of palm trees. We had plenty of time on the drive to wonder, with no internet to actually research. I could see big balls of fruit at the top but didn't know what it was. We also passed factories with trucks full of said fruit. Eventually we found out it was palm fruit and it's used to make palm oil.
We made it to the beach! It was a little different than the beaches I am used to. Doesn't look comfortable to lay on, lol.
Dominical is a tiny little town. We liked it though. We didn't really have any chill-on-the-beach time. I tried to make time at Manuel Antonia National Park but it was too late in the day to get a tan (the sun sets at 6 so by 2:30 the sun is already low enough that you won't get a tan).
Anytime we saw flat ground, there was a soccer field on it.
We walked around looking at all the businesses and found this little restaurant with fish tacos and fish and chips, which was perfect for us.
The sunset might be early, but it is pretty!
We enjoyed our little hotel. There was an Argentinan guy that was groundskeeper or whatever. He had long hair and walked around barefoot in a tank top. His English wasn't great but he was really nice and helpful and we enjoyed talking to him.
The scarlet macaws are really cool. But they are LOUD and super obnoxious. They woke us up at 5:30 or so every morning. They weren't the only birds though.
The beach wasn't what we were used to. But the big trees leading up to the water was really pretty. There were a lot of people selling stuff every day. There were also signs warning you not to park or sit under palm trees because coconuts can fall and cause damage. Not something I've really thought about.
This was the cafe next door to the hotel. We tried a pizza place as well. The owner there was not very friendly and not very patient about our poor Spanish. Even though Ryan is actually really good at it. Anyway, finding food was always an adventure.
